What is the Thailand Privilege Card?
The Thailand Privilege Card is a physical member card that you can apply for after you have joined the Thailand Privilege Program and acquired your visa. However, the Thailand Elite Card is not a replacement for the Thailand Elite Visa and cannot be used to enter Thailand, as it is not a visa or travel document.
This card is an optional addition that provides physical identification of your status as a Thailand Privilege member and holder of the Elite Visa. This makes it less of a hassle to leverage any premium perks and privileges you’re interested in, as certain vendors may request evidence of your membership to access the perks you are entitled to.
How to get a Thailand Elite Card
Step one is joining Thailand Privilege. You’ll need to pass your background check, pay your membership fee, and get your Thailand Elite Visa affixed to your passport.
To start, it’s best to consult a General Sales and Services Agent (GSSA) to simplify the application journey. A GSSA is a visa agency or law firm partnered with the Thai government to assist with Thailand Privilege applications and will provide their services to you for free. These include reviewing your required documents to correct any errors on them and handling the submission of your application on your behalf.
Once your application is in, the Thai government will perform a simple background check lasting between 4-6 weeks. Once you pass this check and pay your membership fee, you will receive your welcome letter and membership ID.
At this point, you’ll be able to request a Thailand Elite Card by contacting the 24/7 Thailand Privilege Member Contact Center (MCC). You can also request your GSSA to help you secure one.
How to Use Your Thailand Privilege Card
You can use your Thailand Elite Card by presenting it to the vendor who provides the privilege you’re interested in when asked. Once they’ve seen the card and verified your identity, they will grant you access to the perk in question.
Not all vendors will require you to present a physical card, but it may be necessary for certain privileges such as free golfing sessions, shopping and dining discounts, or specific event tickets.
Under some circumstances, you may have to contact the MCC beforehand to schedule a reservation. Once you’ve booked your reservation, you can simply meet the vendor in person and show them your Thailand Elite Card for confirmation of your identity.
Without the Thailand Privilege Card, you will have to keep a copy of your membership ID on hand whenever you want to leverage a perk or benefit. The vendor will likely have to cross-check this ID by contacting Thailand Privilege directly, causing delays and potential confusion.
