Retirement visa funds not in Thai bank

I want to move to Thailand under the Retirement Visa scheme. Now my question is that you need to have a bank account showing THB 800,000. Will it be good enough if I show a Savings Bank account of equivalent to THB 800,000 in other currency from a nationalized bank?

The financial requirement of 800,000 THB should be under a Thai savings bank account only which has been deposited in your own account for at least 2 months. Showing your savings account from abroad will not be accepted and should be transferred to a Thai bank account. You need to show Thai immigration your Thai bank book.

  1. If I am on pension and receive a monthly income of 65000 bath but in my own bank in my country and not in Thailand, will this be acceptable for a retirement visa or should the amount be transferred every moth to a Thai bank.

And if I sell all my property in my country and meet the Thailand retirement visa requirements, can my application be denied meaning I now are in a troubling situation having sold everything?
    regards.
Please reply to my email if possible

    1. Dear Jannie,
      Good day.
When using the income for the retirement visa application. You have 2 options:
      1. You obtain an income letter from your embassy in Bangkok.
      2. You have a 12-month bank statement of your Thai bank account showing the income being transferred from abroad every single month.
Last option would be to sell your property abroad and deposit the full amount of 800,000 THB in your Thai account.
Another option is to get the visa in your country so that you can keep the funds there. You apply for the Non Immigrant OA visa.
      Thank you.

    1. Dear Bob,
      Good day.
The requirement of 800,000 THB is per applicant. If the applicant’s spouse is aged 50 years old or above, the spouse must also obtain his or her won retirement visa. If the spouse is below 50 years old, the spouse may apply for the dependant visa hence only 1 applicant needs to meet the financial requirement.
      Thank you.
