No Thai Visa Required – Citizens of Myanmar

I am a holder of Myanmar passport. I heard the news that citizens of our country will no longer require a visa to enter Thailand. When is the implementation of this new rule, and how many days can we stay in Thailand if we are traveling without a visa?

Citizens of Myanmar are now allowed visa-free visits to Thailand for up to 14 days if arriving by way of air travel into the country. The recent reciprocal agreement has been implemented last August 11, 2015 which also gives visa waiver privilege to Thai nationals who wish to travel to Myanmar for a maximum duration of 14 days.

At the moment, there are 23 airports across the Kingdom of Thailand where travelers may arrive via a commercial aircraft. The regulation, however, in all the land borders or immigration checkpoints remains the same as Burmese citizens are still required to obtain proper visas if entering Thailand by means of land travel from a neighboring country.

  6. Hi
I am flying to other country (from Myanmar) through Bangkok and staying there for about 15-16 days or above and flying back to Myanmar through Bangkok again. To save the airfare, I chose self-transit and will have to stay few hours at the Bangkok airport. Since it’s a self-transit, I will have to get my luggage by passing through the immigration twice for the round-trip and my concern is whether it’ll be okay to enter the country twice in a month which is not even within 14 days. Or should I just get the Visa? By the way, I am a Myanmar citizen. Thanks.

We are planning to get married in the near future too. Once she obtained the visa, would she be able to cross over in Mae Sai boarder? Or she would have to fly in to Thailand international airports?

During visa application, does she have to be there in person? Can an agent or myself do it for her?

Please, if you can give me some advice.
    Thanks

    1. If your girlfriend is coming to Thailand before your marriage, she will be given 14 days entry stamp when she enters through an international airport. All visa applications must be done in person.

Once your marriage is processed legally, she may be allowed to apply for the non-immigrant O visa (based on marriage with a Thai spouse) considering that she also meets the financial requirement.
