How to Apply for the Certificate of Entry (COE)?
Step 1: Visit the COE online portal/website and register by filling in your details, and upload supporting documents such as a copy of passport, copy of the valid visa, and COVID-19 travel insurance. The Embassy will screen and pre-approve the applicants who meet the requirements. Please check the status of your application after 1-3 working days.
Step 2: The applicants can check their status online if they have been pre-approved. They will be contacted by email if the Embassy requires more documents. The applicants who are pre-approved passengers can then buy flight tickets and book their ASQ or SHA+ hotels. Copy of the flight ticket and the ASQ hotel or SHA+ Hotel booking confirmation has to be uploaded to get the COE. Please check the status of your application after 1-3 working days.
Step 3: When the COE has been approved, the applicants can check their status online and click to download their COE.
How long does it take to obtain the COE?
It is strongly recommended that the applicant spares at least 15 working days before the travel date to apply for the COE. If you do not have a valid visa, it is recommended to secure your visa before applying for the COE.
What is the validity of the COE?
The Certificate of Entry is valid only for the intended date of travel. The COE will specifically state your name, passport details, flight date of departure and arrival, flight number, and the name of your ASQ hotel. In case, you need to postpone your trip or change the details of your flight, you need to make a new application for the COE to obtain a new certificate with the new flight details or ASQ hotel details.
What do you have to do after receiving the COE?
Once you have received your COE, you have to prepare the following documents for your trip to Thailand. It will be presented to the airline before departure:
- Certificate of Entry (COE)
- Valid visa in your passport
- Declaration Form
- Medical Certificate with a laboratory result indicating that COVID -19 is not detected. The COVID test must be by the RT-PCR method, the test must be conducted within 72 hours before departure. Some airlines do not accept home kit tests so please check specific requirements with the airlines you are traveling with.
- Copy of Travel insurance policy that covers COVID and no less than 50,000 USD. The policy must cover the whole duration of your stay or the duration of your visa. Please print the insurance certificate and all pages of the terms and conditions on the COVID-19 coverage and medical benefits. You may be refused to board the flight if you could not show that the insurance meets this requirement.
- Copy of confirmed ASQ hotel booking or SHA+ Hotel Booking
- Flight itinerary
- T8 Form
- You must download “Thailand Plus” Application on your mobile phone

Hello, do I require a visa or COE if on a refuelling stop in Bangkok?
My flight departs Amsterdam for Kuala Lumpur, but will arrive into Bangkok for 1 hour 20 minutes on the way. I will not transit the airport nor pass through customs or border control.
Will I need the COE/ Visa?
Dear Jonathan,
Good day.
If you will not get off the aircraft, you do not need a COE.
Thank you.
Hello,
If I apply for STV Visa and COE from Romania, is it possible to to fly from a neighbor country (Serbia)?
The flights from my city Timisoara (via Germany are suspended until February).
Also there is only one Embassy in Romania, and it is 700km away, s is there a possibility to apply online for Visa and send and receive all documents via mail?
Thank you
Dear Raul,
No. The COE is valid from the date of your departure. That is the reason they have listed all the flight numbers in your COE.
If you apply for the COE online, the COE will be issued by email.
Thank you.
I have an Australian Passport and currently in the UK and with the current situation here and bans would like to go to Thailand ASAP.
I thought it is better to apply directly for the tourist visa exemption as faster and COE, can this currently be extended within Thailand for another 30 days?
Also for the preapproval stage of the COE in London do I only need to submit passport and travel insurance covering covid? Seen conflicting info and not sure if I need to provide flights at this stage too?
Was assuming once this was preapproved I could ‘predict’ when a good date to fly a few days later would be
Thanks
Dear Jo,
Good day.
When you are applying for the Medium Term Visitor-Visa Exemption, you need to provide copy of passport, proof visa status in the UK, bank statement, inbound and outbound flight to prove that you will leave Thailand within 45 days and insurance on the pre-approval step.
Then after that, you can upload the inbound flight and ASQ on the second step.
The whole process can be completed in 2 to 3 days.
Thank you,
After successfully completing the entire process of receiving a 60 day tourist visa and a Certificate of Entry, and only to get a RT-PCR test and a Fit to Fly certificate remaining, the airline cancelled my flights.
Obviously, my arrival and departure dates will now change. Do I need to start all over again with the visa and COE process?
Dear Aidan,
Yes. You need to apply for a new COE. It means you have to use the link that was used in applying for the COE.
Based on experience you can only apply for new COE using the website a day after the original flight has arrived in Thailand. So please make sure that your new flight is around 1 week after the original flight.
Thank you.
I applied for COE (departing USA) on Dec 12th on this site. https://thaiembdc.org/onlinevisaapplication/
and have not received a reply. My departure is Jan 1st and I tried calling the Chicago Consulate, but can’t get through.
Should I try and resubmit again on this site:
https://coethailand.mfa.go.th/regis/index?checkconfirm=true
Thanks for your advice.
Dear Jim,
Good day.
I believe that Thai Consulate Chicago may move to the new system on January 1st. If you have submitted already the application for the COE using the old link, please email the Thai Consulate, they may say that they will issue the COE 3 to 5 days before the flight.
Thank you.
Dear,
I will apply for my visa in the consulate in Antwerp. When I had a look at the site to apply for a CoE, I noticed I could only choose Brussels for visa application.
Can that cause a problem to get CoE?
Thank you.
Tony Winters
Dear Tony,
Good day.
No, it will not cause a problem. The COE is issued by embassies and bigger consulates only. You can get the visa in Antwerp and apply for the COE online and it will be issued by Brussels.
Thank you.
Hi Rex
I tried to reply directly to you but could not but it was issued by Islamabad, and the reason I asked why was because we fly thru Dubai and i will have a very long lay over and can possibly enter the city for a little shopping.
Dear Derrick,
Good day.
This is a tricky question. The COE must be issued by the Thai embassy that has jurisdiction of the country of departure. Technically that is Afghanistan. For the COE not to be voided, I recommend for you to just stay at Dubai airport. You have to think which one is more important, to get to Thailand or to be able to leave the airport and check the city? You may have a problem when you get to the second flight to Thailand if you leave the airport.
Thank you.
Hello I have just been approved for my C.O.E. but there is a possibility that my port of entry may be the U.A.E. not Afghanistan. will that effect my approval? 782169.
Thank you
Dear Derrick,
May I ask if your COE was issued by Islamabad or Dubai?
Thank you.
Hello, What do I do if the CoE is not approved, is it re-registerd from scratch or can I just edit and add flaws?
Dear Aditya,
Good day.
If your application for COE has been rejected due to the wrong document or document that is lacking, you can just “Edit the Information” and provide the requested document. If the application was rejected because you are not qualified, then you need to get the proper visa before applying for the COE.
Thank you.
How do I find an insurance policy for the Thailand COE? I’m not good about finding this type of coverage.
Dear Fred,
Good day.
The main requirement for the COE application is a 100,000 USD coverage on medical expenses which includes medical expense related to COVID 19. it would be better for you to use a Thai insurance company and you may use the link below to check the available validity of the insurance: https://bit.ly/38ricMp
Thank you.
I am an Australian living in Thailand for the past 4 years with my Thai family . I have a married Visa and going to Australia for business for 3 months, will I need COE or my re-entry permit is sufficient? And what all documents will I need to return back to Thailand?
Dear Jarvis,
Good day.
At the moment, the answer to your questions is yes, you need COE and quarantine for 15 days.
However, if you will come back to Thailand March or April 2021, there might be some changes so it is best to check regularly.
Thank you.
Hi – thanks for the great information on this site.
I’ll be re-entering Thailand on a Non-Imm B visa, do I need to sign up for a 12mth insurance coverage given that it’s a 12mth Visa?
My new company will provide insurance once I become a permanent employee in 6mths.
Cheers
Shaun
Dear Shaun,
Thank you.
If your Non B visa is only valid for 3 months, you can buy an insurance that is valid for 6 months. You may check this page for the insurance company that meets the requirement for COE application:
https://bit.ly/3nPTAU5
Thank you.
information is very conflicting with the Thai embassy in London and very inaccurate… have fun when you try to phone to Thai embassy in London, once finally You realize: new evisa platform don’t take payment (if you unlucky and visa required for YOU)
Dear Mr. Farang,
Good day.
Yes you are correct. There was a system maintenance last weekend and yesterday but the system is still not working. I believe that we just need to wait until this problem is fixed. Anyway, the embassy will accept visa application or issue the visa even without flight booking so it means your travel plans will not be affected due to the problem right now.
Thank you.
Hi there!
I am applying COE from the website: http://www.coethailand.mfa.go.th/ with the place of origin is Moscow Royal Thai Embassy and made the mistake choosing in the category of “types of permitted person” which are “Diplomates and International Organization”.
Answer by email: Royal Thai Embassy, Moscow has rejected your registration/application.
Due to You do not qualify as category (3). Please re-select the category of persons.
I have to choose TR VISA.
Tried several times to change it, failed. I can`t make new registration.
Can you help me?
Could you please kindly assist how to solve this problem.
Dear Anton,
Good day.
You can call or email the embassy to delete your previous application.
Thank you.
Hi,
My father lives in Thailand and he is very ill. If I am not flying soon to see him, I might not be able to see him anymore before he will pass away. I am German living in the UAE, can I fly to Thailand at this moment? Do I need a visa or COE or anything else to fly?
Thank you
Dear Nicole,
Yes, you can fly to Thailand without visa. You may use the Visa Exemption. But you still need to apply for the COE online and you will undergo mandatory quarantine.
Thank you.
Hello, we wish to go to Thailand for tourism with my girlfriend. We understand that there is no more need for a visa to enter Thailand for 45 days. We are from France.
However you need a visa to do the COE.
What do I have to do please?
Dear Aurel,
Good day.
You can learn about the COE application using the website or webpage discussed in this article. Please scroll up and check the article. You may also check:

Dear Sir,
I am a US citizen currently living in Vietnam. I am now 51 and would like to move to Thailand in January where i will apply for my retirement visa. Which steps do you recommend that I take? Thanks
Dear Byron,
Good day.
You have an option to get a Non Immigrant O visa and COE from the Thai Embassy or consulate in Vietnam. Once you have entered Thailand, you may extend it to 1 year as a retirement visa. However, if you are unable to get a Non Immigrant O visa in Vietnam, you may travel to Thailand on visa exemption or 60-day tourist visa and within Bangkok, you can apply for the Non Immigrant O visa and retirement visa given that you meet the financial requirement.
Thank you.
Good afternoon,
The process in French Embassy is a bit different, I had to take the insurance, book a plane and an ASQ prior to submit a visa on https://www.thaievisa.go.th/, then I went to the Royal Embassy of Paris last week to give my passport and the electronic receipt.
Then I returned home and sometime looked at the visa status
going for approval, passing from one status to another.
Actualy the website is not available due to a maintenance, but the last time i checked the process name, it was on “Print Sticker” and I suppose that it should be not long to get it now.
I want to know if that possible to apply for a COE considering that I am supposed to take my plane on 30th December, that the embassy have the majority of the documents including my passport and that expecting my visa as soon as possible ?
Thank you for your answer. I wish you a nice day and best wishes for the end-of-year festivities.
Dear Fabien,
Good day.
Once you received your passport with the visa, you may go to this page and apply for the COE:
https://coethailand.mfa.go.th/
Thank you.
Hello,
I’d like to ask why you can’t put in the AQS hotel confirmation into the request for COE anymore, I’ve tried to update the information in my request incase the copy of the payment recipe wasn’t enough but that part of the form isn’t there anymore
Dear Leon,
Good day.
Once you have submitted it for consideration or it is awaiting approval, you cannot edit it. You need to wait for it to be rejected and then you can do the edit.
Thank you.
Hello, I applied for the COE about 3 days ago, can I still receive it on 21st dec to 24th? Or will it close due to Christmas, my flight is on 26th
Dear Leon,
Good day.
I am not sure which embassy did you choose to issue the COE. But for the UK, the process takes 2 to 4 hours to get approval for the first step and it takes 12 to 16 hours for the second step.
Thank you.
If my AHQ is for 2 days earlier than my arrival date will my application will be accepted?
Dear Nilesh,
No, the ASQ and flight must be coordinated properly.
Thank you.
Hi,
I am filling in the application from South Korea. It won’t accept my “Overseas” phone with country code. Example (not my exact number) 821077206848. 82 id SK country code. I have tried leaving on the first zero as well 8201077206848. I am perplexed. I already have my visa in passport I got from Thai Embassy today. My flight is next Thursday.
Steven

Thank you.
My main question when filling out the COE is who do I put down for my contact information in Thailand(required) as well as my contact person in Thailand(required) if I do not yet know anyone in Thailand yet. Do I put down my hotel name, phone number, etc?
Dear Dylon,
Good day.
You may use your ASQ Hotel address and phone number for the information about Thailand.
For the contact person, please use your contact person in your home country.
Thank you.
Hi and Sawasdee Krup,
I plan to travel on British Airways to Thailand directly from LHR to BKK once my passport returns from London embassy and CoE is issued. Is this ok?
Kindly Advise
Korp Khun Krup
Dear Simo,
Good day.
Yes, after you receive the visa, you can apply for the COE using the website we discussed in the article. the process is quite fast in the UK. But I am not sure if BA has been approved to arrived or land in Bangkok. Please double check with the airline.

“ For Visa type : STV / Non-O / O-X / O-A / Long Stay VISA Type, a separate Health Insurance Policy is required. The limit sum insured for In-Patient is not less than THB 400,000 and for Out-Patient is not less than THB 40,000 ”
Is this applicable for Non- O Dependent Visa for COE to Thailand ?
Dear Sandeep,
May I ask what visa the visa of the main applicant?
Thank you.
A Friend and I applied for the coe on Monday 3pm. Our flight is on Friday 3pm. Is there a possibility to get the coe faster? We got our visa in Frankfurt.
Dear Sandro,
Good day.
After you have received the visas, did the embassy or consulate advise you to use the https://coethailand.mfa.go.th/ portal? The processing time is 1 to 3 days.
If you did it, did you receive the 6-digit tracking number?
Thank you.
Dear Rex,
I am a work permit holder and living in Bangkok. My wife and kids recently obtained their Non immigrant ‘O’ Visa from New Delhi Embassy. The COE was rejected on the grounds that the insurance was not valid for 1 year. Our understanding was that since the single entry Visa was valid for 3 months, insurance coverage for same time period would suffice. Request you kindly advise. ??. Also, if you can also suggest whether it is mandatory to buy the insurance from a Thailand based provider.
Dear Indreesh,
Good day.
Yes, you can either change the return flight or you get an insurance that has longer validity.
Thank you.
Dear sir / madam,
I am currently applying for a reissue of my passport.
Is there a problem that the passport number used when applying for the APEC card is different from the passport number used when applying for the COE?
Thank you.
Good day.
No, you cannot apply for the COE without a scanned copy of the APEC card. It will be required when you fill out the online form.

Dear, I can apply for my TR visa in Antwerp, Belgium, on the 11th of January 21. It’s by quick service, so normally get my visa 11/01/21.
On the site they recommend to leave 15 working days to apply for CoE. But if I read comments some get CoE in a few days.
How many days do I need to get CoE? I have Belgian passport.
Thank you so much for your information.
Regards
Tony Winters.
Dear Tony,
Good day.
Normally the application for the COE takes 2 to 5 days depending on the Thai Embassy issuing the COE.
Thank you.

Hello,
I just received my US passport back from the Thai Embassy Los Angeles with my OA retirement visa inside. Is the COE a separate process that I must now apply for at this time or is that also being worked on by the embassy and I must wait for my “Step 3/3 email”? Thanks in advance
Dear Dan,
Yes, normally they will send you the 3/3 email. If you do not received it after 3 days from the time you received passport, please email the consulate and request for the COE.
Thank you.
Hello,
I have not been able to get in touch with the embassy in America. I have so many questions. Is the visa exemption/visa on arrival track not allowed for Americans anymore, because if you go on the visa website, there is an option for Americans to choose that they are entering on the visa scheme? Previously, I have tried to apply to get a TR Visa, but it asks for the details of a contact person in Thailand and I don’t know anyone there. What can I put in that portion of the application? I cannot get past that part of the application, therefore, I cannot submit my application.
Dear Brianna,
Good day.
You can apply for the following:
1. Visa Exemption (free visa at the airport)
2. 60-day tourist visa
3. STV
For the option 1, you can go directly to the COE application for portal.
For the option 2 and 3, you need to get the visa using the visa application portal and after receiving your visa, you can use the COE application portal.
Thank you.
Hello,
I am an athlete from Hong Kong and would like to travel to Thailand for the purpose of sports training with the local team, as early as before Christmas.
Do I need a COE? If so, what else do I need?
Thanks
Dear Nancy,
Good day.
Yes, every foreigner coming to Thailand needs and visa and COE issued by the Thai consulate in Hong Kong.
Thank you.
Hi,
You have referred to the fact that we need a “Declaration Form” after receiving the COE. What is this “Declaration Form” & where can we get/dowload one?
Thanks.
Dear Steve,
Good day.
You can download on this page:

Hello, how many days do I need to buy insurance for Thailand with an elite visa from the UK?Is the flight ticket booked by the embassy or can I book it myself?

For the COE application, it is normally 3 months COVID 19 Insurance validity.

Hi there, i am from the United Kingdom but working in the USA. Can i apply for my COE from the UK embassy in London or do i need to apply from the Thai emabassy in the USA as i will fly from here to Thailand.
thanks Shaun
Dear Shaun,
Good day.
If you are applying for the visa in the UK, you need to have a long term visa and you will use a different portal for the visa application. If you already have a visa or you will use the visa exemption, you can apply for the COE using this portal being discussed in the webpage as long as you can show that your flight will depart from the UK to Thailand.
Thank you.
Hi,
I am from Latvia. There’s no Thai embassy here. Is there a way for me to apply for STV or 60-day tourist visa?
Thank you.
Dear Girts,
Good day.
I believe the Thai Embassy in Sweden can issue the visa for your nationality. Please contact them directly.
Thank you.
Hi Rex,
I Live in London, UK.
I don’t think I can get a STV Visa at the moment because we have current Covid Cases. Is this Correct or what??
I’ve tried to apply For the 60 Day Tourist Visa from the London Embassy at the following https://www.thaievisa.go.th
This site has never worked and won’t work I’ve logged in and I can’t get past the first page to apply for a tourist Visa can you help me or explain to me why I can’t apply for a tourist Visa from London UK. It says when I apply that it’s a Invalid Visa. So how can I get to Thailand In January if I can’t get a STV or a Tourist Visa??
Also once I get a Visa if I can actually get a Visa is that when I apply for the CoE or when do I apply for the COE?
Is this the correct process:-
1. Get Visa
2. Get COE
3. Book Flight and ASQ
4. Get Fit to Fly Certificate and Covid Test Within 72 hours of leaving for Thailand?
Thx ? for all your help
Dear Tony,
Good day.
The online application is manageable. I have sent you an email about the assistance we can offer you.
Thank you.
Hi Rex,
Hope all is well in Thailand.
Currently my understanding is the UK cannot get the STV Visa because of Covid? Do you know if I live in London UK can I get a 60 day tourist Visa at present? What is the easiest way to get the 60 Day Tourist Visa?
Also if I can get this 60 Day Tourist Visa do I need to get a COE and do I need to do 14 days quarantine once I arrive if I have a house in Phuket? If I have to do ASQ for 14 days when do you personally think that UK residents won’t have to quarantine at all anymore after they arrive in Thailand now that we have a vaccine here in the UK?
Dear Tony,
You can apply for the following:
1. Visa Exemption
2. 60-day tourist visa
3. STV
For the option 1, you can go directly to the COE application for portal.
For the option 2 and 3, you need to get the visa using the visa application portal and after receiving your visa, you can use the COE application portal.
All visas mentioned in my reply requires mandatory quarantine. If your flight arrives in Bangkok, it must be done in Bangkok. If your flight lands in Phuket, you can do ALQ in Phuket.
Thank you.
Hello, I have an Australian passport, am I still required to obtain a tourist visa before I can apply for a COE? I’m hoping to still be able to get a visa on arrival, as getting to an embassy is not an option at the moment. I’m in Malaysia and will be travelling from Malaysia to Bangkok in February
Dear Paul,
Good day.
You can apply for the following:
1. Visa Exemption
2. 60-day tourist visa
3. STV
For the option 1, you can go directly to the COE application for portal, you may check the article above.
For the option 2 and 3, you need to get the visa using the visa application portal of the Thai Embassy KL and after receiving your visa, you can use the COE application portal.

hello,
I have applied for a TR visa at the Thai Consulate in Los Angeles.
is the COE process a separate one or will they issue both visa and COE simultaneously?
If so and in the event I need to change my flight, would I have to apply for a new COE at the consulate of through this website (thaiembassy.com)?
Thanks!
Dear Christoph,
Good day.
The application for the visa and COE in Los Angeles is done simultaneously. If the visa and COE has been issued, and you need to change your flight, you must email the Thai Consulate Visa Section to give you the link to upload the new flight and ASQ bookings in order to get a new COE.
Thank you.
I intend to go for a 60 day tourist visa and than extend it for another 30 days, so i will be in Thailand for 3 months. What will be the financial requirements. I mean what are “sufficient funds”?
Dear Freek,
Good day.
The financial requirement is more than 20,000 THB in your account.
Thank you.
Hi
Have a nice day. I have already got the visa and now when I filled up the documents on the website for the Relief Flight in December, it always shows me to attach a copy of my passport. I uploaded not only a copy but also a photo of my passport. It does not work and showed me to attach a copy of my passport. What is wrong? I attached all the necessary documents and my passport.
Dear Shwe,
Good day.
You need to click the arrow icon for the document to be attached.
Thank you.
Hello
I have the TR visa issued by the embassy in London.
I will be in the Netherlands before I travel to Thailand. Will they accept a PCR and Fit to Fly issued there or do they have to be issued in the UK?
Also, can I fly directly from the Netherlands instead of UK? I am trying to save unnecessary flying if possible.
Thank you for your thoughts!
Dear John,
Yes, you can apply for your COE, COVID test and Fit to Fly Certificate in Netherlands if you are flying from the Netherlands to Thailand.
If you fly from the Netherlands, you cannot apply for COE in the UK.
Thank you.
hi, i just want to double check if filipino citizens allow to travel as a tourist in bangkok? if yes? what are the travel requirements & travel restriction?
Hoping for your immediate response.
Thank you so much.
Dear Maan,
Good day.
You can apply for the following:
1. Visa Exemption
2. 60-day tourist visa
3. STV
For the option 1, you can go directly to the COE application for portal.
For the option 2 and 3, you need to get the visa by visiting the Thai embassy in Manila and after receiving your visa, you can use the COE application portal.
Thank you.
Hello,
I am having difficulty entering my Canadian phone number into the form… it will not accept the format. Does anyone have any suggestions / experience regarding this?
Much appreciated!
Dear Brian,
Good day.
You need to include +1 if you are entering your phone number. For a Thai number, you do not need the +66.
Thank you.
Do you know if there is an online application for Diplomatic/official visas? When I tried to fill out the online visa application form, it redirected me to a page asking to mail-in my items. Thank you!
Dear Rin,
Yes, there is an online application for the COE. You can check the information on the article on this page. Regarding visa application, please contact the Thai embassy directly.
Thank you.
Hello,
What if the flight is delayed/ cancelled. Do you need a brand new COE application?
Dear Maria,
Good day.
The validity of the COE is for the specific flight number and flight date. If there has been a change in any of the information, yes, you need to get a new COE.
Thank you.
If I apply for a COE at the Chicago Consulate, can I still submit my visa application to the Washington D.C. Embassy?
Dear Rin,
Good day.
The application for the visa and COE are jointly applied in the US. You apply for the visa and COE through a consulate that has jurisdiction of your state.
Thank you.
Good day,
it is not clear if the 500.000 bank rule on a bank account for the last six mnths has now been dropped BY ALL THAI EMBASSIES.CONSULATEs, or not in order to get a visa for Thailand, after the announcement of t Decemebr 9 that visitors from all countries are now allowed to apply..Thanks for the clarification, trhatfd, R.Baldi
Dear Romano,
Good day.
Since November 18th, this is no longer required. You only need to provide a bank statement that may cover your stay. There is no specific amount.
What is important now for the STV is the COVID 19 insurance and the in-patient and out-patient insurance.
Thank you.
Hello, I just received my passport back (wash dc embassy) with my tr visa. I have not received any instructions to get my COE. How do I get my COE?
Thanks
Dear Zach,
Good day.
You may email or call the Thai Embassy in Washington DC and request for the “shared link” so that you can upload your visa and request for the COE. I am not sure if the embassy has adapted the new portal for the COE application because I can only see “diplomats” in the selection.
Thank you.
Hello Rex,
I live in Japan, American citizen. I’m planning a trip to Thailand to spend time with my Thai fiancée. I just read on Bangkok Post that the govt granted “visa exempt” again for Americans who visit the Kingdom for 30 days or less (giving an extra 15 days to cover ASQ.). Can you confirm this news? I’m not finding it updated on our embassy websites here. Thank you for any advice!
Dear Robert,
Good day.
Yes, you can use the visa exemption to enter Thailand and you can stay for 30 days or 45 days. You can use the COE application portal discussed on this webpage.
Thank you.
Dear Sir
please how do we get COE for our Thai National to enter Thailand
Dear Okwudili,
Good day.
The best thing to do right now is for you to call the Thai Embassy in your current location.
Thank you.
Hello! I am a US cittern residing in Thailand with non-immigrant retirement visa and I have a Thai spouse. The World Health Organization Philippines is requesting me to do an emergency mission to introduction of COVID-19 vaccination and polio outbreak response. The mission is January to March 2021. Can I get a COE in Manila to return to Thailand in March? Thank you and take care. Keith Feldon
Dear Keith,
Good day.
Yes, you can apply for the COE at the Thai Embassy in Manila. Please note that flights from Manila to Bangkok is not regular so you have to check that also.
Thank you.
Hello
The insurance policy 100000USD , Cover period ? what is the minimum or maximum cover period for this policy ?
Dear Senthil,
Good day.
if your visa is a non immigrant OA visa, the validity must be 1 year. If your visa is other type of visas, you can provide 3 months to 6 months validity.
Thank you.
Hi my name is Ingo.
I am from Germany.
I already did the registration for COE and got message that it is approved.
But I dont know how to go on now and how I will get my visa.
Thanks for any Information about what to do next.
Dear Ingo,
Good day.
I am not sure why the process in Germany is reverse. Usually you need to get a visa first and then you apply for the COE. I recommend for you to get in touch with them directly because we do not have the information for that process for visa and COE in Germany.
Thank you.
Dear Sir/Madam.
My husband just obtained a Non-B Visa Working Permit in Thailand. The Visa valid for 1 year. Would like to flight back to Thailand in Dec 20.The Health Insurance at least USD 100k need to buy to cover for 1 year as well? Or can purchase for shorter period first. Please advice.
Dear Cindy,
Good day.
The minimum if you have a Non B visa is 6 months.
Thank you.
Hello,
I applied for my visa and my COE has been approved. Can I go ahead and book my flight and ASQ? I am yet to collect my visa tomorrow.
Thank you
Dear Lyn,
Good day.
Once your visa is issued, you can apply for the COE. Which means you need to provide flight details, insurance and the ASQ hotel reservation.
Thank you.
Hello everyone,
My wife just passed the pre-approval step for getting the COE from the Thai Embassy in Moscow. She’s a work permit holder with a Non-Imm B visa, and re-entry permit and an already existing medical insurance with Aetna Thailand. She got the cover letter from the insurance for confirming the coverage of Covid-19, but there is reported that the overall maximum payable for medical expenses is 400,000 THB, that is much less of 100k $.
So far for the embassy is ok, and she has been told to send the travel confirmations (flight and ASQ). But now my wife is concerned about any issues she may have with Emirates in Moscow or Dubai..could they deny her the boarding. And the immigration in Bangkok? I suppose that if the papers are right for the embassy, then she should not have any problems in boarding flights and passing trough the immigration control.
Thanks for your advice
Daniel
Dear Daniel,
Good day.
I do not see any problem for her at Bangkok airport. As long as she has the COE and other certificates and declaration forms.
Thank you.
Greetings my i am from Bulgaria ,my visa is 3 years non B visa ,i receive 6 digit code for Coe from Roya Thai embassy in Romania .When i check result system say your information is not found .Please give me advise
Hi, I had applied for COE from Thai Embassy in Tehran, I got my completed file, then they asked for a second Insurance, which I provided. I had a valid retirement visa till 25 Dec. and my date of departure was 2nd Dec. I had plane tickets and ASQ hotel, then the staff told me that I must get non-OA visa, since 25 Dec. was too close. So I am trying to get the above visa on time and amended my ASQ hotel date. My problem is the edit side says: “Your application cannot be edited due to Your application is under consideration”, so should I try to apply again? If so don’t I get more delays. I am so worried. The embassy staff told me to apply again with new visa, but is there a way to edit my file again?
Hi my name is Yuri i am from Bulgaria my visa is non B visa valid until 2022 i receive 6 digit code before 3 days from Romanian embassy but now when i check a link system say your information not found ,.
What does it mean?
Dear Yuri,
You just need to try and search result. It will show the current status.
Thank you.
I have Thai workpermit and currently in India for a family emergency.
I have to travel to Thailand for 1 month and then I will have to be back to India for 3 months and then back to Thailand.
Can I take 1 month of insurance for my first trip and 90 days insurance for my second trip.
Dear Bharat,
Good day.
The minimum travel insurance is 3 months. You may check this link if you need the insurance:
https://bit.ly/37JiuPB
Thank you.
What is the Declaration Form required for presentation at the airport when traveling, and where do I find it?
Dear Hood,
Good day.
You may download the declaration form from this link:

Thank you.
Hey, I have a few question.
1. Since UK is not “low risk area” you cannot apply for STV, correct ?
2. Since I cannot apply for STV, can I apply for normal TR visa ? (British passport holder).
Dear MJ,
Good day.
You can apply for the following:
1. Visa Exemption
2. 60-day tourist visa
3. STV
For the option 1, you can go directly to the COE application for portal.
For the option 2 and 3, you need to get the visa using the visa application portal(under maintenance) and after receiving your visa, you can use the COE application portal.
Thank you.
Under the previous advertised system I applied for my COE and was advised by email that my application had been received, but no tracking number. I received this advise three times from the Canberra Embassy. One month later and still no word. I went to the Melbourne Consulate to get a new spouse visa to be told there is now a new system. The old system required me to book quarantine accommodation and airline ticket WHICH I DID. Now the new system has a pre approval process. I have tried to talk to someone in the Embassy visa section to explain the situation. I was told “Just follow the system”. Very disappointed. So now I am re applying under the new system and hoping it will work this time. My wife and I have been separated now for almost a year. I really want to get back to my family.
Dear Paul,
Good day.
The new system is fast and reliable. I have assisted numerous people with it already. Should there be any problem or delay, please do not hesitate to send me a message here so I can advise you. You may also contact me at Siam Legal International website.
Thank you.
Is there a way that I can get the COE faster ? I’m so late to apply for this. I’m so sorry right now.
Dear Bath,
Good day.
The fastest way is to get in touch with the Thai Embassy to expedite your request.
Thank you.
Hello and good day Rex,
after my online registration for CoE was accepted I completed the second step with documents for flight/insurance/ASQ on 28/11/2020.
Three working days have passed now, but my application is still under consideration and waiting for approval.
Do you have any suggestion for me what to do? Time pressure will come up soon to me.
Please note: I live far away from my generalconsulate and phoning did not lead to any contact in the past.
Thanks!
Dear Uwe,
Good day.
May I ask which embassy or consulate did you apply for the COE? For UK for example, the fastest application for both step 1 and 2 I have done for a client was 16 to 18 hours.
Thank you.
Hello Rex,
thanks for your answer!
Issue solved in the meantime by contat with the consul.
The hotel had made an error calculatiing my departure date from the ASQ-hotel and so the confirmation letter contained invalid data.
The right date was the next day, new confirmation letter was created, sent to the consul … and some minutes later I got the approval.
Happy now!
Thanks.
Dear Uwe,
You’re welcome.
Yes, you need to check the dates before submitted the ASQ details to the embassy.
Thank you.
Hi
What period does the insurance need to cover? I assume it needs to be the same time period as the visa that is issued (60 days) – is that correct?
Dear Steven,
Good day.
The Insurance should be at least 3 months. It could be less than 3 months depending on the return flight to your home country.
Thank you.
I have applied for COE on https://coethailand.mfa.go.th/ website one week ago, but I have not got any update from Mumbai Embassy. I tried reaching them out but they are not responding. I am stuck in the process what can I do?
Dear An,
Good day.
The processing for the COE really depends on the Thai Embassy or Consulate in your country. I would recommend for you to call them about this problem.
Thank you.
Hello.
What does it means with “position” asked after my personal informations?
Dear Isola,
Good day.
That refers to, Jr or Sr in the suffix name.
Thank you.
I have a Thai spouse, living in Thailand, my thai spouse visa has expired. I’m Australian, but work in Afghanistan. Can I apply for COE? What visa can I request, knowing that the non-immigrant O visa for spouse is going to be hard to receive from here as there is no Thai embassy in Afghanistan.
Dear Peter,
Good day.
You will apply for the COE under the country where your flight will be departing. It would be better for you to fly first to your home country and then fly from Australia to Thailand. You get the COE in Canberra or Sydney.
Thank you.
Can I get a COE from Thai consulate general Los Angeles without filing online? I’m in rural Alaska and internet is very slow
Dear Chris,
Good day.
The application for the COE is done online and the issuance of the visa is also done by email.
Without the COE, you will not be able to travel to Thailand.
Thank you.
Hi,
I have a work visa which is valid till Oct 2021. I am planning to travel to India in December 2020 & back to Thailand in January 2021. While travelling back, what is the duration of insurance cover I need to buy?
Dear Mike,
Good day.
When you go out of Thailand and plan to re-enter in January 2021, you need to have a COVID-19 travel insurance that is valid for more than 6 months or valid until October 2021.
Thank you.
Hi is they any changes in the restrictions on Thailand enter ..
I was told not possible but some people saying book with special visa is this still a opinion 3.12.2020.
Tks mark …like to travel 27.12.2020
Dear Mark,
Good day.
Right now, the easiest visa to get is the normal 60-day tourist visa.
Thank you.
My Thai girlfriend wishes to return home. Please advise how she can book a state-paid facility in Bangkok for the requisite quarantine period.
Many thanks.
Dear Jeremy,
Good day.
Your Thai girlfriend must get in touch and register with the Thai embassy.
Thank you.
Hello,
i have applied for COE from Germany and i have upload my all documents including ticket and Hotel conformation and waiting for the COE but from yesterday i am checking they showing that “Your information not found”
does anyone know about this
Dear Arbaaz,
Good day.
Perhaps, it wasn’t successfully uploaded. Have you received the 6-digit tracking number, if you used the link above?
Thank you.
Hello,
Is is faster to have the CoE issued in London or in Paris? Given that the CoE process is all done online, can I apply 2 months before my flight? I already have my visa sorted out and I am currently in Thailand, although I will have to fly to Europe in January 2021. Thank you for your advice.
Dear Sean,
Good day.
I have only processed SOE in London and it is fast. Please note that you will apply for the COE based on the flight departure. If you depart from Paris, you must choose Paris in the COE application.
Thank you.
I finally got a response on my COE application from the Embassy ….. they said “my application complete. Office will send COE to your email one week before departure date.” Is that normal … If complete, why can’t they just send?
Dear Dave,
Good day.
That is good news for you. This is COE in the US right? Is it California? They tend to send the COE quite last minute.
Thank you.
I was able to get a non-immigrant visa in the USA in a couple of days, but the COE has yet to arrive. It has been 15 working days since I applied I have heard nothing. How long does the COE take and if declined will they send notice?
Dear Dave,
Good day.
After you have received the visa, did you upload the visa, COVID insurance, ASQ hotel booking, flight booking to the link the embassy has sent you? Normally if there is any document they require from you, they will ask you to upload it within 7 days.
Thank you.
I was granted a working visa within days recently, but the COE is taking weeks. Is that normal? If the COE is rejected, does the Embassy notify you?
Dear David,
Good day.
Yes, the embassy will notify you if they need additional documents.
Thank you.
Hi, are UK nationals allowed to apply & travel in post 03 December 2020 on the STV visa’s? I am a tourist looking for long stay holiday.
What is the 1st web link & can I apply for the STV visa?
Am i allowed to obtain the STV visa pending UK nationals as a country allowed into Thailand?
I have my own medical insurance, unlimited costs, no excess, does this meet the requirements & therefore i need not have to obtain Thai medical insurance as my own MI is unlimited therefore much better than a ceiling insurance on costs?
Thank you
Dear Zamon,
Good day.
The STV or special tourist visa is not available in the UK. You can apply for the normal 60-day tourist visa through the online application portal.
Thank you.
good morning,
today 11.11.2020 I go to visit https://coethailand.mfa.go.th/ but that tell me
This site is inaccessible. I am waiting for the answer to have the COE. I have already completed the request with the flight and alternative ASQ hotel
Dear Rungpetch,
Good day.
I checked it today and it is now working.
Thank you.
Hi Rex,
First thank you for your speedy response to my initial question.
I have read that travel into Thailand is via chartered flight? Is that accurate? Am I limited to state approved flights only? Could you advise on what I need to know or do with respect to what airline / flight to be booking? or am I able to book with any airline?
Thank you again!
Cheers
Lisa
Dear Lisa,
Good day.
In the UK and USA, the semi-commercial flights have been approved by the Thai Embassy. You may check with the embassy for the list of airlines they have approved for travel to Thailand.
Thank you.
I have a valid Non-Immigrant B Visa and all the necessary paperwork for entry into Thailand. How long is processing time for the COE? I have been waiting for 2 weeks but have a friend who got his in days in the UK.
Dear Dave,
The application in the UK is easy and fast. Have you tried this page to apply for the COE in the US?
https://coethailand.mfa.go.th/regis/step?language=en
Thank you.
What happens when you have applied for a COE and got your COE but the flight details have been change by the airline?
Dear Lisa,
Good day.
You need to contact the Thai Embassy or Consulate to issue a new COE that will match the information of your new flight details such as date and flight number.
Thank you.
Hello , i have the same probleme like you right now ,flight nr. In coe not corect .
Can i ask you how you solve the problem ?
My embasy not answer my emails
Dear Christina,
Good day.
You may call or email the consulate or embassy. Did you apply using the online portal for the COE? If you did apply there, you can re-apply for a new COE.
Thank you.

Thank you.
What do they mean with:
After your surname they ask for your Position:
What doe they mean with that?
Dear Dirk,

You may leave it blank because it is applicable to those with Jr or Sr in their names.
Thank you.

Have to be issued Covid or health insurance by Thai Insurance?

Dear Franco,
Good day.
For the COE application, please get in touch with the Thai Embassy directly. If your visa will expire in December, will you be out of quarantine before its expiry? What visa do you have? Please check the article I wrote here to check if your visa is eligible or permitted to enter Thailand.
Thank you.
Good evening,
i have 1 year RETIREMENT VISA issued by Thailand Immigration in Bkk around 1 year ago. Now the VISA is still valid but will be out soon . Do you suggest me to get the new one VISA and then get COE separately or get together at same time ?
Dear Franco,
Good day.
At the moment, the non immigrant O retirement visa is not eligible to apply for a COE. However, if you change to another visa, you may be able to do so at the Thai embassy. You may choose to apply for the non immigrant OA retirement visa in order to qualify for the COE.
Thank you.
Hi,
I live in Germany and i’m looking for an STV or TRV in order to get an COE. I looked up on the Thai Consulat Website (https://thaiconsulate.de/visa) and they say “in order to get a Visa you need an CEO”, but on the Registration system for Certificate of Entry For non-Thai nationals (https://coethailand.mfa.go.th/regis/index?checkconfirm=true) at the section “Types of permitted persons” a visa it’s required to proceed.
So in order to get an CEO i need a visa, but to get a visa i need a COE.
I’m very confused, can you please explain me the steps to get COE an a correct Visa for long stays (like STV)?
Thank you
Dear Ricardo,
Good day.
You need to secure the visa first and then apply for the COE.
To apply for the visa, you have to make sure that you are qualified. Right now STV and TRV are not available in Germany. Based on the data, Germany is not a low risk country.
Thank you.
Ok, thank you. What will be the steps to obtain STV visa when Germany will be a low risk country?
Dear Ricardo,
Good day.
At the moment there is no guideline for the application of STV in Germany. We have to wait for the information when it is posted or announced.
Thank you.
Hello, I am currently in Australia on a Student Visa, I am looking to return to Thailand, I am a resident of Thailand. Do I need to obtain a certificate of entry?
Dear Amornin,
Good day.
Are you a Thai passport holder? If yes, please register with the Thai Embassy in Canberra or consulate in Sydney for your return to Thailand.
Thank you.
Hi, I’m a citizen in Tunisia, can I obtain the special tourist Visa for the long stay?
as I’m going to get married in Thailand.
Dear Armen,
Good day.
The special tourist visa is only available in few countries at this time. Unfortunately, it is not available in Tunisia.
Thank you.
A bit confused. I am currently in the Phillipines. Student with a Malawian passport. Been here last four years. What is the process to get a Thai tourist visa for me?
Dear Margaret,
Good day.
The Special Tourist Visa is not being issued by Thai Embassy in Manila. Please contact the Thai Embassy in Manila for the other visa options available for your trip to Thailand such as work visa, or Thai spouse visa, if any of these two is applicable to you.
Thank you.
I am a US cititzen, can I apply for toursit visa and COE?
Dear Yara,
Good day.
Yes, the Thai Embassy in Washington DC has announced the requirements for the normal 60-day tourist visa requirements. Kindly check with embassy website or please call the embassy directly to start your application. If you need any assistance please send us an email through this page: https://www.siam-legal.com/contactus.php
Thank you.
Is there an exception to the mandatory 14 day quarantine requirement for tourists?
Dear Yara,
Good day.
The quarantine is mandatory for all Thais and foreigners entering Thailand. You can be quarantine in a hospital, ASQ hotel or the government designated quarantine facility.
Thank you.
Do I have to travel within 15 days of COE
Dear Simon,
Good day.
The 15 days requirements is for the processing of the Certificate of Entry or COE. The COE is valid until the date of the trip. As you can see in the sample COE in this article, there is a specific date and flight number the COE is valid for.
Thank you.
Hello – What is the requirement for a Thai person to enter back into Thailand ?

Can Canadians enter Thailand? I would want to stay a few months.
Dear Craig,
Good day.
Yes, you may apply for the certificate of entry or COE if you have a valid visa. Right now the Thai Embassy in Ottawa is issuing TR visa. Please refer to this link:
https://bit.ly/3kdGkpA
Thank you.
Hi Team,
Good day!!
Can we apply Certification of Entry for Tourism?!
Dear Sabarish,
Good day.
You need to get the proper visa first. If you reside in China or Australia for example, yes you can apply for tourist visa and COE. The visa is required for the application of the COE.
Thank you.
Hi Rex,
Thanks a lot for the response.
So, If I understood correctly, we need to get the tourist visa first from the embassy by providing necessary documents and then use that to get the COE.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
Regards,
Sabarish J
Dear Sabarish,
Good day.
Yes, that is correct. If the Thai Embassy in your country is now issuing the tourist visa, please apply for the visa first and then apply for the COE.
Thank you.
I tried applying for the COE but my country is not stated among the other countries.
Does it mean I’m not fit to enter Thailand?
Dear Soli,
Good day.
It means you must contact the Thai Embassy in your country for the visa and COE application. They may have a different method in getting the COE.
Thank you.
I am from Bangladesh and I am a registered patient of Bangkok Hospital. I am suffering Blood Cancer, kidney disease and diabetic with blood pressure. I need to go to Bangkok for my treatment. Dear Oksi,
You may have to contact the Thai Embassy in Russia or China.
Thank you.
1) Is it possible that I apply for Special tourist Visa on the COE online application site(https://coethailand.mfa.go.th/)?
2) When I try to apply for COE on the Website(https://coethailand.mfa.go.th/),
I can’t find out “Korea” on Place Of Origin section.
why Korea is omitted?
Dear Ethan,
Good day.
Some countries have not started using the COE page set up by the MFA. Some countries still do the application for the COE on this own way. Also, the link above is only for COE. It is not used for STV visa application.
Thank you.
Is it an agent that can help me do all this requirements?
Dear Finn,
Good day.
Yes, for the assistance on the COE application or even the visa application, please contact the firm on this page:
https://www.siam-legal.com/contactus.php
Thank you.
Hello!
I’d like to travel to Thailand from Europe (now on Italy but I can fly from other EU countries).
About medical tourists in a need for medical treatment in Thailand – what kind of medical treatment can it be? Where can I find more information about that kind of entry allowance?
Dear Dawid,
Good day.
For the documentation needed for this visa, please contact hospitals like Bumrungrad or BNH for some documentation that is acceptable at the Thai Embassy in Italy.
Thank you.
