Since the pandemic started, it has surely made people miss a lot of activities that they usually do in their daily lives during pre-pandemic. Missing out from going out freely to public places, like beaches, on the weekends, and party or relaxing with friends and families physically.
Places from all over the world, like Thailand, have already adapted new ways to go out and enjoy life like before. It is already possible for you to go to the beach through the new normal way of traveling and going out for adventures.
Krabi Sandbox Opened
The once Phuket Sandbox extension has become a Sandbox destination itself.
Like Phuket and Koh Samui, Krabi Sandbox allows vaccinated tourists to enter and stay without quarantine as long as they stay in the premises of Krabi.
Krabi, aside from Phuket and Samui, is also one of the most popular destinations in Thailand. With its opening as one of the Sandbox destinations, tourists can directly go to Krabi and stay there for 7 days.
Krabi Sandbox opened 3 designated areas for tourists to stay, considered as the Blue Zone Free Travel Areas:
- Ko Phi Phi
- Ko Ngai
- Railay Beach
And it will not be long, November 1, until the Krabi Sandbox will open the rest of the location.
No More 14 Days Required Quarantine
On September 30, 2021, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) announced the reduced days of required stay in Sandbox programs to be effective on October 1, 2021. Instead of 14 days, tourists will only have to complete 7 days of stay. Fully vaccinated visitors can stay on Ko Phi Phi, Ko Ngai, and at Railay Beach and then they will be free to go to other destinations in Thailand.
In short, from 14 days to only 7 days of stay is required. And this is not just in Krabi, this includes the other Sandbox destinations.
Open for People from Countries from All Over the World
On the same date that the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced the reduced stays in Sandbox programs. TAT has also announced that the list of countries allowed to enter the Sandbox program is now not applied.
The Sandbox programs, including Krabi Sandbox, are open for vaccinated tourists from all over the world and not just open for those people who are from countries that are listed allowed in Sandbox programs.
Krabi Sandbox Tourist Assessment
Now that the list of countries allowed to enter the Sandbox program destinations are gone and tourists from any countries from all over the world are allowed to enter, the only thing that a tourist will need to worry about is if they are fully vaccinated or not.
Tourists that are allowed to enter the Krabi Sandbox:
- They are required to be vaccinated.
- The vaccine they received must have been received in less than 14 days.
- The vaccine must be Thai Ministry of Health approved or World Health Organization (WHO) approved.
- In terms of children, they are not required to be vaccinated, however, their parents must be vaccinated.
Krabi Sandbox Requirements
Entering Krabi Sandbox, or any Sandbox destination might take double effort for you to successfully enter. The Thai authorities have been strict when it comes to tourists entering Thailand.
As a tourist, you are subjected to following the rules and are required to gather the required documents needed to be able to enter Krabi Sandbox.
The requirements are the following:

During the 7 days of Stay
For you to have an idea of how from the 14 days of stay to 7 days of stay will change ways. This is what you will expect upon entering Krabi for 7 days of stay:
Day 0-1 (either arrival or the first day of stay)
Tourists will be tested for COVID-19 upon arrival of your flight after that you will be transferred to your booked hotel. You will wait within 24 hours in the hotel to know the result of the RT-PCR test.
If the result is negative, you are free to go on adventures within the premises of Krabi.
Day 6-7
You will be tested for the second time, and if, again, the result is negative you will be given a release form.
Tourists are still free to roam inside Krabi but if they do decide to go and stay at other destinations in Thailand, they are given the capability to do that as well.
Travel Restrictions (from your country of origin)
Krabi Sandbox and other Sandbox destinations are ready for you to be booked you. The white sandy beaches, the clear water, the warm weather, are ready for you to visit. It is all good.
However, though the Sandbox destinations are ready and open for all tourists from all over the world, it does not mean that your country is okay for you to travel to those Sandbox destinations or any other destinations in Thailand.
It is suggested to know the travel advisories from your country about Thailand before proceeding to book any flights to your go-to destinations.
No More Isolation
There is no need for you to stay in one place and be safe from COVID-19. The Sandbox programs are there for you to go out, relax, have fun while staying safe.
Though allowed to go out, relax and have fun, please make sure to practice safety measures.
