Phuket Sandbox Hotels

As part of the government’s plan to reopen Phuket to foreign travelers, the Thai government has introduced the Phuket SandBox Program. Travelers do not need to do quarantine but they must stay in Phuket for at least 14 days in an accredited SHA+ Hotel and will then be allowed to visit other destinations in Thailand.

What is SHA+ Hotel?

In collaboration with the government and private sector, Thailand, especially Phuket aimed to develop confidence with SHA+ Certification. This is to maintain the security of tourists’ health during this COVID-19 and prevention of other contagious viruses. The committee prepared the health assessment and process to provide the tourist an excellent service from their tourism establishment. The following keys are included:

The staff is required to be fully vaccinated against covid 19.
Must have a complete requirement as part of the protocol and guidelines to travel from the origin up to the establishment.
Convenience and cleanliness between the communities and attractions.

Important Reminders

For travelers who wish to visit Phuket only, there is no minimum stay required but they must leave Phuket (Thailand) for another country on or before the intended departure date;
For travelers who wish to continue the journey to other Thai provinces, they must stay in Phuket for at least 14 nights. Thereafter, they will be allowed to travel to other parts of Thailand. You also need to stay at one SHA+ hotel in Phuket for your first 7 nights and then you are able to move to another hotel(s) for the next 7 nights also in a SHA+ hotel in Phuket.
You need to make sure that your SHA+ Hotel will issue the SHABA Certificate of your booking to be used for the COE application.
