Insurance
Do I need to submit a copy of my insurance policy as an expat living and working in Thailand?
Yes. Expats with a valid visa or with a residential permit in Thailand must show proof of insurance coverage with a minimum coverage of $10,000, a valid social security card, or a certified letter from their employer.
In terms of Thai nationals entering Thailand, they do not have to show proof of insurance coverage for they are covered by Thailandās Universal Healthcare program.
Is it necessary for my insurance to be COVID-19 insurance in order to register with Thailand Pass?
No. As long as the insurance coverage is with a minimum coverage of $10,000 for medical expenses including COVID 19. It can be general insurance or health insurance, not just COVID-19 insurance.
Can I use my insurance from my home country? Or Do I need to have insurance from a Thai company?
You can attain an insurance policy from your home country as long as it meets the minimum coverage of $10,000 USD and provides cover in Thailand.
Link to Siam Legal AXA Insurance
What is the promo code for AXA insurance?
There is no promo code needed when applying for AXA Covid-19 insurance. Click on the link and any discounts are automatically applied.
Does the AXA insurance cover my hotel isolation expenses?
AXAās Sawasdee Thailand insurance does NOT cover additional hotel accommodation costs due to quarantine/isolation.
Covid-19 & RT-PCR
Do I need to submit my COVID-19 (RT-PCR) test result into Thailand Pass?
If you are vaccinated, you do not need to complete an RT-PCR test before arriving in Thailand.
If you are unvaccinated and do not want to complete a 5-day quarantine, you will need to complete an RT-PCR test within 72 hours of your travel date and upload the result into your Thailand Pass application for approval.
Is it possible to enter Thailand with a COVID-19 test result from the rapid test method?
Vaccinated travelers will need to complete an ATK rapid test result while in Thailand. It is not required to enter the country.
An ATK test result is not sufficient for unvaccinated travelers who want to avoid the 5-day Alternate Quarantine.
Please note that similar testing techniques, including PCR, qPCR, and RT-qPCR are also accepted.
Do I need to take a pre-departure RT-PCR test to enter Thailand after April 1?
After April 1 you will no longer be required to do a pre-departure RT-PCR test in order to enter Thailand. It is prudent to confirm with your airline carrier and any transit countries if they need a pre-departure RT-PCR test.
After May 1, unvaccinated travelers will need to complete an RT-PCR test if they do not want to complete 5-day Alternate Quarantine.
How much does the antigen test kit cost and who do I pay?
An antigen test kit costs between 50-200 Baht. You purchase an ATK kit from any pharmacy or convenience store in Thailand.
What happens if I test positive for COVID on Day 1 or Day 5 (ATK)?
If you test positive for Covid-19 while in Thailand, you will be notified of how to proceed by medical professionals. The test center or hospital will make all arrangements to admit you to a hospital or suitable hotel (this will be decided on a case-by-case basis). Your expenses need to be covered by your insurance.
Positive Covid cases are assessed on a case-by-case basis. If you test positive on a Day 5 ATK test, you will report to the closest hospital or testing center. Depending on the severity of symptoms, you will be admitted to the hospital or be required to self-isolate in your hotel/accommodation for up to 14 days.
How can I report my Day 5 ATK test result?
On arrival in Thailand you need to download and install the MorChana app:
When you complete your Day 5 ATK test, you will upload the result through the app.
I cannot load my Day-5 ATK result into the MorChana App. What can I do?
If you cannot upload your ATK test result into the Morchana App, speak to reception at your hotel. They will assist with recording the result.
Can I bring an ATK test kit from my home country or do I need to buy it in Thailand?
You can bring a test from your home country, but ATK test kits are available at any pharmacy or 7-11 in Thailand. They cost between 50 – 200 Thai baht.
I have paid for RT-PCR tests but my flights have been cancelled. How do I get a refund?
You can apply for RT-PCR test refund at https://www.thailandpsas.com/refund
Children
I am travelling with children. Can I submit one application for the whole family/group?
All travelers, except children under the age of 18 must apply for Thailand Pass.
Children under the age of 18 do not need to register for the Thailand Pass. Parents will add their childrenās information to their Thailand Pass registration under the āPersonal Informationā section.
What will happen if my unvaccinated child under my Test and Go entry tested positive of COVID?
Covid cases in Thailand are assessed on a case-by-case basis.
- If a child is too young to care for themselves, a parent is allowed to stay with them.
- If a child is older and can be left unattended part-time, a parent is asked to stay separately from their child to avoid the risk of infection.
If my child is younger than 12, do they need to do an RT-PCR test through the nasal swab method?
No. Children under the age of 12 can conduct their RT-PCR test through other testing methods, i.e. saliva test.
Domestic Airport Transit on Arrival
What is a domestic “sealed flight”?
Before May 1, if you entered Thailand through Bangkok and planned to fly domestically to another location before undergoing your Test & Go, you needed to travel on certain sealed flights.
These flights should be booked as a single international transit itinerary and be a particular flight number.
After May 1, you do not need to book domestic sealed flights to transit inside Thailand.
What are approved sealed flight numbers?
There are several sealed flights available.
Approved sealed flight numbers for Samui begin with PG51xx.
Approved sealed flight numbers for Phuket begin PG52xx.
I booked my flights separately. Do I need to do my 1-night quarantine in Bangkok?
No. After May 1, vaccinated travelers do not need to complete Test & Go or Sandbox. You can book domestic flights to transit from Bangkok on entry.
Will Thailand Pass pick up on flight and quarantine discrepancies?
As part of due diligence, Thailand Pass confirms flight and accommodation details. If you have booked a non-sealed flight to another location and do not show your quarantine in Bangkok, this can lead to a delay or rejection of your Thailand Pass application.
What locations are available with sealed flights?
Sealed flights are currently available from Bangkok to Phuket and Koh Samui.

(1) We will arive in Thailand on the 17th of Juli. As unvaccinated travelers we will need to provide a negative PCR test result. We have scheduled the tests 2 days before departure, with the results coming in 24 hours later. When is the best time to register for the Thailand Pass? Should we complete the process now and upload the test results shortly before departure by editing our request?
(2) We are bringing with us a 2 year old and a 5 year old kid. Is there anything extra to take into account regarding their application?
Hi JD,
The Pass will take 24 to 48 hours, but on July there maybe some changes if Thailand Pass is still required. Just incase, your child must be put under your name, there’s a button for additional.

I am planning to visit Thailand basically to transit through to the USA< but may stay and visit friends. I have had three doses of Sinovac already, but the last one (most recent one) was November 4, 2021. All are recorded on the blue government vaxx card provided by Cambodia government here in Phnom Penh.
QUESTION: Do I need to get a new, FOURTH booster more recent than the others? Or is it OK to have three, no matter what time frame?
Thanks

2) My Thai pass was approved on 23 April under old requirements for my travel on 19th May so, this pass is still valid for me to enter with . Is that correct?
Hello Sandy,
Yes, that’s right.
Thank you

Hello Team,
I took my second covid vaccine does April 19, 2021 and my boaster is on April 19 2022. My arrival date in BKK is on 24th. Will I be admitted when I arrive at BKK?
Dear Iggy,
Yes, that is acceptable. Did you apply for the Thailand Pass Test and Go already?
Hello Rex,
Sawadee kha…Need help please! I have booked my flights for Bangkok for 5/22 & 5/31. First 2-3 days I wanna stay in Bangkok and remaining days in Pattaya. I hope that’s not a problem?
As I am already booking SHA Extra+ hotel with Test & Go package for Bangkok so do I still need to book another Test & Go package when I reach Pattaya?
Also can I book SHA Extra+ hotels from wesbsites like Agoda, Makemytrip or Booking.com?
Hi Faisal,
1. That’s not a problem. You need to do a test and go on the 1st day of arrival only.
2. No you don’t.
3. Yes, make sure the hotel includes all fees needed in the test and go procedures.
Dear Thomas,
What option do I have if I need to change my passport details and the flight if I have already got the Thailand pass? Do I have to apply for another one?
Dear XOM
You must apply for another one, inform the hotel about your bookings too.
We are landing in Bangkok and wish to travel to Krabi and Phuket during our total stay of 7-nights. Understand that we will need to stay in Bangkok under ‘Test and Go’ for 1 night. Can we still visit Krabi and Phuket under ‘Sandbox Program’ or can we do ‘Test and Go’ each at Phuket and Krabi for the remaining 6 nights?
Hi Amit,
After you’re done with test and go in Bangkok you can travel to your desired provinces without participating in another test and go or sandbox program.
Hi, my family and I will be traveling to Phuket for vacation later this month. Our visas have been approved with details of one hotel, but we have now changed our plan and booked another hotel (dates of arrival/departure unchanged). Will Thai Pass be approved if there is a discrepancy between the accommodation details on the visa and the pass?
Dear Aarzoo,
Yes, that is not a problem. Your visa and Thai Pass are not connected. If you need any guidance for the Thailand Pass test and Go, please check this page:
https://www.thaiembassy.com/travel-to-thailand/how-to-apply-for-the-thailand-pass-in-2022
Thank you.

Hi, I am fully vaccinated yet I have been infected by covid on during late February 2022. I am travelliing to Thailand on 1 May. Is Covid recovery certificated necessary? if yes, how to get the cert? I am from Malaysia.
Hi Sri,
Yes, you can contact a hospital for issuing your recovery certification.
Hi there,
If I have 3 approved vaccine doses, and a medical certificate showing recovery from covid in the past 90 days, do I still have to do the pcr test on day 1 of arrive?
Hi Sara,
Yes, you still have to book and pass a Test and Go program

Do I require a new Thaipass?

Dear Thomas,
Please scan the QR code of your Thailand Pass and it will tell you what is the latest date you must enter Thailand.
Thank you.
Hi Rex,
I submitted my dad’s thailand pass application on 10th March and was given his personal key code via email. I tried to check the application status today(17th March) with the code but system stated “no account registered”. I had no issues checking a few days ago. How do I resolve this issue? Should I resubmit my application? The flight to Bangkok is nearing I hope this delay would not affect my dad’s trip to BKK.
Thank you.
Dear Kai Jun,
Good day.
You can try checking the status using a different web browser or a different computer. You can also call the hotel and ask them if they already approved the Thai Pass.
Thank you.
Dear Rex,
Can you advise please. My wife’s passport shows her maiden name but her vaccination certificate is in her married name. Presumably this discrepancy would be resolved by evidence of the marriage certificate. I assume this situation is not uncommon but your confirmation would be appreciated. Thank you
Dear Tim,
You can upload the proof of change of name or marriage document in the ‘Additional Documents’ section of the Thailand Pass application. This section is normally after the “COVID insurance’ section.
Thank you.
Hi,
I submitted my Thailand pass application yesterday. But my flight is on Monday. Am I still on time? So stressed now.
Dear Jasmine,
You can contact your hotel and ask them if they already approve your Thailand Pass.
Thank you.
A client has had their Thai Pass rejected as the receipt for the SHA+ hotel was booked via Expedia not directly with the hotel. How can we apply for Thai Pass with an Expedia booking/receipt confirming the booking and payment has been made to an online travel agent not directly with the property.
Dear AJ,
Good day.
The Hotel has the power to approve your Thailand Pass. If you do not pay to the hotel directly, they will not approve it. if they do not honor your Expedia booking, you have no choice but to pay the hotel and ask for refund from Expedia. The only website that is acceptable for Thailand Pass application is Agoda. But the package that you need to purchase must be Test and Go package.
Thank you.
Hi Rex – I am travelling from New Zealand but transiting through 2 countries namely Melbourne and Singapore. Singapore being the last stop for 1 hour. Will this be a problem when I land in Phuket under Test & Go programme? I appreciate your response. Thank you. Krissy
Dear Krissy,
Good day.
It is not a problem as long as the whole itinerary is booked in the same flight booking or ticket. To learn more about the Test and Go program, please visit: https://www.thaiembassy.com/travel-to-thailand/test-and-go-thailand
Thank you.
Hi. I got my Thai Pass for my March 6 flight but I had a family emergency so I changed my flight to March 10. Do I need to apply for a new Thai Pass because my new flight date is more than 72 hours from my original flight date?
Dear Tess,
You can scan your QR code and you will see the date you must arrive not later than that date. If your new arrival is later than that date, you need to apply for new Thailand Pass.
Thank you.
HI Rex
My Thai Pass is approved and two nights at the hotel booked. I would like to change my flight ticket and fly 2 days earlier. Hotel can change my reservations , no problems. So my check in time changes, but stays withing allowed 72 hours window. Do I need to apply for a new pass?
Dear Sylwia,
You cannot change it to earlier arrival but you can arrive later. Make sure you arrive within 3 days after the original arrival date.
Thank you.
Can I know how long is the Thailand pass validity? After approved, how long we can hold the pass?
Dear Chee,
The Thailand Pass is valid for 72 hours. Please check the arrival date stated in the Thailand Pass and you can travel within 72 hours from that date.
Thank you.
Thailand pass: If I had Covid in July and was vaccinated 2 months later in September is that considered fully vaccinated?
Dear Gretha,
Yes, you will be considered as fully vaccinated. When you apply for the Thailand Pass, you need to upload the copy of medical certificate as proof of recovery and secondly the proof of vaccination.
Thank you.
I canāt find the answer anywhere!
I have a return flight to bkk. Originally I was going to apply for test and go as fully vaccinated. I cannot change my flight so what do I need to do? If there are no Thailand passes being issued and I am not eligible for a sandbox pass, I feel stuck. Any ideas?
Thank you
Dear Marisa,
Since your flight arrives in Bangkok, you only have one option. That option is Thailand Pass- Quarantine Program. You need to stay for 7 nights in quarantine hotel before you are allowed to travel around Thailand. if you would like to apply for Thailand Pass- Sandbox program, your flight must arrive directly to Phuket without Bangkok transit.
Thank you.
Good morning,
Iāve commented several times but itāll just disappear letās hope you can see my message this time.
Iām going to Thailand on the 17th of January and yesterday I tested positive to COVID, my isolation ends on the 13th of Jan, am I still able to travel with COVID recovery letter?
If the first test is negative and I can board the flight. Do I still need to test negative twice in Thailand. Or can I use my proof of recovery therefore?
Many thanks
Marlie
Dear Marlie,
You can board your flight if you have a negative result of RT PCR test.
Thank you.
Hello, what happens if you have recently recovered from Covid-19 but you are testing positive ?
Dear Joel,
Anyone who tests positive, regardless of whether they have recovered from COVID-19 in the last 90 days, are required to quarantine at their own expense for 10-14 days or possibly longer depending on their situation and under the direction of public health officials.
Thank you.
Can I go to Thailand with my test and go pass dates from January 18th to March 2 2022. With 1 day quarantine.
Dear Juan,
Good day.
Yes, you can still used your approved Test and Go Thailand Pass. There is no cut-off date for the Test & Go entry to Thailand. The CCSA will monitor and assess the situation and release a new order when necessary.
Thank you.

Iām going to Thailand on the 17th of January and yesterday I tested positive to COVID, my isolation ends on the 13th of Jan, am I still able to travel with COVID recovery letter?
Many thanks
Havva
Dear Havva,
If you already have a Thailand Pass, you only have to worry about your COVID test that will be required by the airline. if you tested positive, they might refuse or not let you board the flight.
Thank you.
Good morning,
I have received the Thailand Pass and have got the exemption from quarantine. Which Iāve booked a hotel for 1 night. With the new rules am I needing to now quarantine for 7 days once I get there?
Many thanks
Tom
Dear Tom,
Good day.
The Thailand Pass Test and Go that you have will remain valid unless the government will announce that it will not be accepted or honored anymore. We have to wait for an announcement tomorrow January 7th.
Thank you.
Hi Rex, I have an approved Thailand Pass for the Test and Go scheme in Samui for 16th January. If I were to change to an earlier flight to arrive in Phuket instead (say 9th Jan) would I be able to use this same pass assuming I have booked a SHA plus hotel and have completed all other requirements?
Thanks for your help
Dear Natalie,
The already issued Thailand Passes for Test and Go are still valid and there is no need to change the flight to an earlier flight.
Thank you.
Good afternoon, we have just had our Thailand Passes approved for the Test and Go arrival, which we were delighted to receive. However on printing them out we were a bit shocked to find that my wife’s Mothers one was for a Sandbox Pass, not the Test and Go one we had applied for. I have emailed [email protected] to advise them of this problem yesterday and have had no response. I realise how busy the Pass Office must be, and was wondering if l had addressed my message to the wrong address. Your advice on this matter would be gratefully appreciated. Thank you. Best regards, Patrick
Dear Patrick,
Good day.
You may also email [email protected] and [email protected]
Thank you.
Good morning, I have A Thailand Pass for test & go on the 11th January 2022, some websites say the last day for arrival is the 10th January.
Can I still use this pass, if not can I arrive a day earlier?
Many thanks,
John
Dear John,
Good day.
One very important piece of information that the Thai media got wrong is the cut-off date for arriving in Thailand. Basically, there isnāt one. Earlier this week, the media were saying you must arrive before 10th January if you didnāt want to do quarantine. That is not true. You can arrive on the date that was approved on your application.
Thank you.
Hi Paul,
We got our TH pass a couple of days ago. Unfortunately, our original flight to Bkk (don mueng airport) just got cancelled, and I will need to repurchase a new ticket from a different airline which only flies to Suvarnabhumi airport. Will I have a problem at customs?
Also, you mentioned the pass is valid for 72 hours window from the original flight time. My question is, would I be able to bring forward my flight?
TIA for your help.
Dear Alicia,
Yes, you can use the same Thailand Pass if you will still arrive in Bangkok and you will still do Test and Go in Bangkok. I suggest that you arrive on the same day as stated in Date of Arrival if possible.
Thank you.
Hello,
I have tried leaving a comment several times but it always disappears after a few hours… am I doing something wrong?
We will be travelling to Thailand from Australia next month with our children aged 1 and 3.
Do the children need a PCR test before departing Australia? And will they need to be tested once we arrive in Thailand?
Thank you in advance for your assistance!
Regards,
Alex
Dear Alex,
Good day.
The children are ONLY exempted from vaccination requirement. They still need to have Thailand Pass, Insurance, COVID test before the flight and upon arrival in Thailand.
Thank you.
Hello,
Could you, please, consult on the following:
On the 25th December I have a flight to Phuket through Bangkok from Russia. I’m fully vaccinated and plan to use Sanbox program (I have already booked a SHA+ hotel in Phuket). Should I pass PCR-test in Bangkok upon arrival, book SHA+ hotel in Bangkok and wait for results there? Or I could have a connecting flight to Phuket without PCR in Bangkok and pass PCR upon arrival to Phuket?
Kind regards and thank you!
Hi Ksenia,
If your first arrival city in Thailand is Bangkok, you have to do your Sandbox at an AQ/SHA+ hotel in Bangkok for 7 nights before you can travel to Phuket. However, if you wish to do Sandbox in Phuket, we recommend booking a flight that lands directly in Phuket.
Thank you.
Hi
I am planning to change hotel that I have received my thailand pass with.
Does it mean I need to re-apply for another thailand pass with new hotel details?
Kind regards.
Hi Hanna,
Yes you will need to reapply for a Thailand Pass.
Thank you.
Hello.
I am vaccinated, and have the “yellow vaccination book” and a certificate on paper (proof of vaccination). When I apply for Thailand Pass, is this accepted as proof of vaccination ? I don`t have a smartphone and no digital vaccination certificate yet (so no QR-code). Thank you
Hi Joe,
If your document clearly states your name, vaccine type and date of vaccination that is considered a proof of vaccination.
Thank you.
Does my vaccination certificate need to show my middle name? NHS Scotland insist that it is not needed and will provide the certificate only in first name + last name format .
Dear John,
Good day.
It is acceptable if your middle name is not stated in your vaccination document. Just make sure that your name and date of birth are stated.
Thank you.
Heeey š
Iām from Denmark and have not taken any corona vaccinations. What Will be The process for me to get into Thailand?
Dear Jonas,
Good day.
Yes, you may still apply for Thailand Pass under the Quarantine Program. You need to quarantine for 10 nights.
Thank you.
Where do l find my vaccination certificate please ?
Dear Josephine,
Good day.
You may request a vaccination certificate with QR codes from the NHS.
Thank you.
Hello, i am looking to travel to Pattaya end of Feb 2022 and was wondering if i still need AXA insurance and CEO to enter?
Thank you
Dear Chris,
Good day.
It is too early to say what will be the requirement in February 2022. As of today, it is still required to apply for Thailand Pass to enter Thailand and it is still required to have a COVID insurance.
Thank you.
How long is the Thailand pass valid for. Thanks.
Dear Jim,
Good day.
The Thailand Pass is valid for one trip. However, if you need to change your flight, you may use the same Thailand Pass as long as your new flight is within 72 hours from the original flight time.
Thank you.
I have my Thailand pass. Arrived on the 10th of January and staying until 22nd of March.
Is my pass valid for this period of time meaning I don’t need to apply for the extended visa.
Please Rex can you reply
Dear Anna,
Good day.
Thailand Pass is not a visa. It is only a document that allows you to enter Thailand. For your visa, please check your entry stamp and visit the immigration office to apply for an extension if necessary.
Thank you.
Do you have to have organised transport from Phuket International Airport or can you get a taxi/bus.
Is transport automatic?
Dear Patrick,
Good day.
The transport from Airport to Hotel must be organized by your SHA+ hotel. For the COVID test at the airport, please go to http://www.thailandpsas.com
Thank you.
Hi – is Puerto Rico considered the US in terms of quarantine free travel? I am travelling to Puerto Rico from Thailand, need to know if I should book Phuket sandbox or reenter through Bangkok. Thanks
Dear Sam,
Good day.
Yes, you can apply under USA. It means you are qualified to do the No Quarantine program. You do not need to do the Sandbox Program.
Thank you.
