What is Thailand Pass?

The Thailand Pass system is a free-of-charge web-based system designed to make the documentation process of travelers entering Thailand more efficient and faster. The Thai Pass QR code is required for all travelers entering Thailand.

The application will be approved by the central authorities in Thailand and not the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate. Therefore, please allow sufficient time for approval after registering for the Thailand Pass.

The goal of the system is to help support the country’s “Ease of Travel” system after it reopens and to expedite filling out information and uploading travel documents.

Who Can Apply for the Thailand Pass

Thai Pass is required for all travelers entering Thailand, whether they be Thai nationals or foreigners.

From May 1, 2022, Thai Pass application and approval requirements will depend on a traveler’s vaccination status.

  1. Fully Vaccinated travelers will be able to enter Thailand under the No Quarantine program. A vaccinated traveler does not need to book 1 night’s accommodation in an approved SHA+ hotel or complete an RT-PCR test on arrival.Fully vaccinated foreigners will need to provide proof of COVID insurance and their vaccination certificate when applying for Thailand Pass. Thai Nationals only need to provide their vaccination certificate as insurance is not required. Unvaccinated children under 18 years old may travel with vaccinated parents without quarantine. The parents must include the children’s personal information in the application.
  2. Unvaccinated travelers will have 2 options for entering Thailand:
    • Unvaccinated travelers will be able to enter Thailand under the existing 5-day Alternate Quarantine program; OR
    • Unvaccinated travelers will be able to enter the No Quarantine program by completing an RT-PCR test and uploading the result into their Thai Pass application. The test cannot be older than 72 hours before their departure date.

What are the Requirements for the Thailand Pass

To support “Ease of Travel’, entry requirements have been eased from May 1, 2022. You can now apply with fewer documents and obtain a QR entry code faster.

The document requirements are listed below.

Vaccinated travelers (No Quarantine)

  • Your passport profile page
  • A certificate of full (2 doses) vaccination or vaccine card
  • A medical insurance policy with at least USD$ 10,000 minimum coverage

Unvaccinated travelers (No Quarantine)

  • Your passport profile page
  • An RT-PCR test result no more than 72 hours before your departure date
  • A medical insurance policy with at least USD$ 10,000 minimum coverage

Unvaccinated travelers doing Alternate Quarantine program

  • Your passport profile page
  • Confirmed booking of SHA+ hotel 5-day Alternate Quarantine package
  • A pre-booked RT-PCR test on arrival (if not included in your package)
  • A medical insurance policy with at least USD$ 10,000 minimum coverage

Proof of Vaccination

For vaccinated travelers entering under the No Quarantine program, you must prepare your vaccination certificate or card. The file must be in JPG, JPEG, or PNG.

For unvaccinated travelers who would like to enter Thailand under the No Quarantine program, instead of submitting a vaccination certificate or card, you must submit a negative result of the RT PCR COVID-19 test issued within 72 hours before traveling to Thailand.

Vaccine Card

Flight Details

The next step of the process is to book your flight to Thailand. Although it is not required to submit a proof of flight booking, the Thai Pass system will require the following information of your flight:

  • Country of Departure
  • Date of Arrival in Thailand
  • Flight Number
  • Estimated Exit Date from Thailand

Hotel Booking or Address  in Thailand

The Thailand Pass system does not require travelers to provide a hotel booking as well. However, you will be required to provide an address in Thailand. If you will be staying in private accommodation you may provide the address.

For travelers staying in a hotel, we highly recommend using Agoda.com when booking your hotel:

COVID-19 Insurance

Foreigners are required to submit proof of COVID-19 Insurance with minimum medical coverage of 10,000 USD.

To purchase the AXA Thailand Insurance, you can visit: www.siam-legal.com/axa-insurance

How to Apply for Thailand Pass

The Thailand Pass System is a QR code generating system. To obtain a QR entry code or Thai Pass ID, travelers will have to:

  • Register at the official web portal
  • Input personal details
  • Upload the required documents per their vaccination status
  • Receive a confirmation email after registration (within seconds after registration)
  • Wait for the approval (normally within 1-3 days)

And if approved, you will receive an email with your QR Entry Code or ID, which you will use upon entering Thailand.

1. Apply for Thailand Pass by Yourself

You may apply for the Thailand Pass directly on the MFA website: https://tp.consular.go.th/

If you have already applied by yourself and you need to check the status, please go to: https://tp.consular.go.th/en/check-status

If you already applied and you still did not get the QR code or you were rejected, please email: [email protected]

2. Thailand Pass Application Service by Siam Legal

Application for the Thailand Pass is free-of-charge and you do not need any assistance to apply for it. However, there may be instances where some individuals may voluntarily choose a paid service provider such as a law firm to provide consultation, assist them to prepare their documents, and submit them on their behalf.

Individuals may encounter problems with their documents that are not being uploaded properly or are deemed unacceptable to the Thai embassy or consulate. This may cause delays or rejection of your application, so it may be helpful to retain a service provider to assist you with the application. These paid Thailand Pass services offered by Siam Legal are listed below.

Recommended Thailand Pass Insurance

Based on experience, the common problem for the applications being rejected and travelers being denied boarding their flight is that some insurance policies are not properly worded.

Your COVID 19 insurance must expressly state that it covers up to $10,000 USD medical expenses, including COVID 19 related incidents, and it must cover your whole stay in Thailand.

The Thai Pass system only accepts one attachment therefore it is important to have a one-page Certificate of Insurance with all the required information. To purchase the most reliable insurance that has never had a problem with the Thai Embassy or airline, please click the link below:

    1. Dear Shay,

      Good day.
You need to stay overnight in Bangkok before you can travel to other parts of Thailand. At this time, domestics transfer is not permitted. If you did not get your COE yet, you need to apply for the Thailand Plus on Monday.
Should you require any assistance for the Thailand Pass application, please check this page: http://www.siam-legal.com/coe

      Thank you.

      Thank you.

    1. Dear John,

      Good day.
The Thailand Pass is not a visa. It is a travel pass only. If you need to stay in Thailand for 90 days you need to check what available visas you can apply or obtain. You can apply for the 90-day non immigrant visa or the 60-day TR visa which you can extend for another 30 days. The application for the visa is a separate application, you can go to https://thaievisa.go.th/
For the Thailand Pass, you can go to https://tp.consular.go.th/
Should you require any assistance for the Thai Visa and the Thailand Pass application, please check this page: http://www.siam-legal.com/coe

  2. Hello again,

My question was removed, not sure why.
Do you have to depart from your country of residence due to this 21 consecutive days rule? I am from the UK but work in Belgium, am I able to fly from Belgium as it’s the only way to meet this rule?
Also do flights have to be direct, for example if you fly Emirates there is a transfer in Dubai?

    Thanks

    1. Dear Craig,

      Good day.
Yes, you can travel from Belgium to Thailand with direct flight or with stopover in Middle East such as Dubai or Doha. You apply for the Thailand Pass from Thai Embassy Brussels.
      Thank you.

  4. Thank you for replying to my previous question but I have another one now. If I land at Bangkok in the morning and book 1 night in an approved hotel how long is it before I will get the test result? Can I book a flight to Koh Samui for the following morning?

    1. Dear Karen,

      Good day.
I suggest for you to check with the hotel because the test may depend the time of your arrival. So if you arrive in the morning of Day 1, you may be able to leave the hotel around midday of Day 2. You can ask the hotel which hospital or clinic will take the test and maybe they can give you an idea about the timing.

      Thank you.

      Thank you.

  8. If I want to enter Unvaxxed, what’s the process, after 11/1/21. I having trouble I’m a DAV. comprehending. Thank u

    1. Hi James,

After 1 November 2021, if you are unvaccinated you may enter Thailand but are required to quarantine for 7 days and get a Thailand Pass prior to departure.

      Thank you.

  9. I am flying from Canada to Bangkok November 26. We hope to pend the first week in Thailand in Phuket. Can we fly to Phuket and go to a SANDBOX hotel directly upon arrival in BKK, or would we have to stay one night first in the Bangkok hotel awaiting PCR results?

    1. Dear Joanne,

      Good day.
For the new No Quarantine Program, the guideline is this: You stay for 1 night and do the COVID test in the city where you land in Thailand. Obviously if the flight lands in Bangkok, you must make the test in Bangkok before you can fly to Phuket. If you want to avoid it, you must fly to Phuket directly via Dubai or Doha. Should you require any assistance for the Thailand Pass application, please check this page: http://www.siam-legal.com/coe

      Thank you.

      Thank you.

  12. Hello.

Why do we need to stay 1 night in an ASQ or SHA+ hotel and have to Apply for the Thailand pass when we have the following. 1: have the 72 hours PCR- test with us, 2: fully vaccinated corona-pass and covid insurance certificate of NOK 15000000,-. We are Going to stay at Hilton hotell in Hua Hin. They will pick us up at Bankok AirPort and drive directly.

Look forward to hear from you as soon as possible.

    Regards Stine.

    1. Dear Stine,

      Good day.
If the Hua Hin hotel will arrange the airport transfer from Bangkok Airport directly to your Hua Hin Hotel, then you you do not need to stay 1 night in Bangkok. You can stay in Hua Hin and have your COVID test there also. If you are questioning why do you need Thailand Pass, please contact the Office of Prime Minister for an explanation or the CCSA can explain it. I believe you just need to follow the entry requirements.

      Thank you.

  13. We had a death in the family 10/23 and have not previously applied to COE. Are there any options to get into Bangkok any sooner than 11/7 for fully vaccinated travelers from the US? We are prepared to submit required documentation to Thailand Pass now but the site looks like it will not be up and running until 11/1.

    1. Dear A,

      Good day.
We are sorry to hear that. You can apply for COE right now. Just contact the Thai Embassy about expediting the application. Those who are traveling between Nov 1 to 7, you can apply for COE right now. There is no need to wait for Thailand Pass.

  14. When I visit Thailand I will be arriving on visa-exemption (from UK). I do not know whether I will extend later. Is it okay if I just buy insurance to cover the initial 45(?) days and then purchase extra insurance later should I decide to extend?

It doesn’t seem to be possible to purchase a flight direct to Chiang Mai (from UK). If I fly to Bangkok with onward domestic flight to Chiang Mai (i.e. need to go through immigration in Bangkok) can I do my one-night stay in Chiang Mai or must it be in Bangkok?

    1. Dear Mark,

      Good day.
In order for you to travel from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, you need the COVID test result. Therefore you must stay in Bangkok for 1 night and do the COVID test. Once you have tested negative of from COVID, you can fly to Chiang Mai. Yes, you can book an insurance for 40 days since the visa exemption is 30 days. You will also provide an exit flight within 30 days also which you can cancel or you can postpone the exit flight after you have successfully extended your visa.
To check the correct COVID 19 Insurance, please visit our partner, http://www.siam-legal.com/axa-insurance
Should you require any assistance for the COE or Thailand Pass application, please check this page: http://www.siam-legal.com/coe

      Thank you.

    2. Thanks Rex.

I just checked the Thai Airways website, and it seems it is possible to book a flight from the UK to Chiang Mai (transit in Bangkok), however a warning pops up saying:

“Transiting in Bangkok to domestic destinations in Thailand is currently not permitted. Passengers must complete the required hotel quarantine on arrival in Bangkok. Further information is available here.”

However, I wonder if this message is intended for pre-November system? Otherwise, how would it be possible to do the 1-day quarantine in Chiang Mai?

    3. Dear Mark,

Book a flight UK to Chiang Mai via Hong Kong if there is any. If there is NONE, you must spend one night in Bangkok. Another option is to book a private jet and arrive in Chiang Mai without stopping in Bangkok

      Thank you.

    4. But if I go through immigration in HK, then would this potentially cause problems regarding the rule to spend 21 days in safe country you are arriving from?

    5. Dear Mark,

Then the best option for you is to travel to Bangkok, stay for 1 night for the test and go package and then you travel to Chiang Mai.
      Thank you.

  15. Good Day Rex

I submitted a request two days ago (not shown in the post anymore) and did not get a reply so will try again.

I am fully vaccinated and from one of the 46 low risk countries. I plan to travel to Koh Samui via Bangkok early 2022. I understand that I can either:
    (1) -Get a PCR test upon arrival in Bangkok and stay one night. I can travel to Samui the next day with the negative test result, OR
    (2) Booked a “sealed corridor” flight (only 2 such flights between Bangkok and Samui) and get the PCR test when arrive in Samui

Please let me know if this is correct. Thank you in advance for your answer.

    1. Dear Jane,

      Good day.
I believe I replied to you already. The seal flights are not operating after October 31. In 2022, depending on the month, as of now, you need to book a flight to Bangkok and stay 1 night here to do the COVID test and after that, you can fly to Samui the next day once you have negative result.
      Thank you.

  16. Can you include whether there are restrictions on connecting flights in BKK to Thailand destinations such as Koi Samui.

    1. Dear Carina,

      Good day.
The connecting sealed flight will cease operations after October 31. So you need to quarantine or stay in hotel in Bangkok for 1 night and do a COVID tests before you fly to Samui the next day.

      Thank you.

    2. I am intending to visit Koh Samui from the UK. The Thai Airways flight lands in Phuket for transit before the flight to Samui. Do I have to book the 1 night Hotel in Phuket and travel to Samui the next day or can I book the hotel in Samui?

    3. Dear Karen,

      Good day.
Yes, you need to book for one night stay in Phuket and the test and go package. It is hotel and COVID test package. After you tested negative you can fly to Samui. In Samui you can stay in any hotel or house of your choice.

  17. Hi.

I have booked a SHA+ Hotel in Pattaya. Can I travle direct to the Hotel or do I need to stay in Bangkok for 1 day for test results?

    1. Hi Rex.

Can i stay in Pattaya less than 7 days? i have booked my holiday from the 18th to the 22th of November.

    2. Dear Richard,

      Good day.
If you are coming from the low risk countries, you only need to stay for 1 night in accredited hotel and spend the rest in preferred accommodation and leave Thailand anytime you like. If you are not from low risk country but fully vaccinated, you can qualify for Sandbox and you can also stay less than 7 nights in Pattaya as long as your next destination is another country.

      Thank you.

  18. dear all,
whenever I try to select a SHA+ hotel or a ASQ-Hotel, and I record my stay for 1 night from 28.11.-29.11.2021 in Bangkok, I receive an information: no hotels found!
what is the reason for this? Do you have an alternative to book the one night in Bangkok?
    best regards – Hartmut

  19. I am a philippine passort holder but i am now in belgium and i want to travel from belgium to thailand is that possible?

    1. Dear Lanifer,

      Good day.
Yes, you can qualify for the No Quarantine Program. Just make sure you have been staying in Belgium for more than 21 days before coming to Thailand. You need to book a 1-night quarantine in Bangkok and you need to have COVID insurance.

      Thank you.

  20. hello

after doing the one day quarantine in bangkok, is it possible to flight in koh samui without doing pcr test? and when i back to bangkok too?

    1. Dear Cristelle,

      Good day.
Yes, you can fly to Bangkok and stay overnight. After which, you can travel to Samui. You can use the test result from your stay in Bangkok for the flight to Samui. Flying from Samui to Bangkok, you do not need RT PCR test.

      Thank you.

    2. thanks for your answer rex.

how long my pcr test is valid to go to samui? i would like to stay 5 nights in bangkok and then samui

  21. Double vaccinated,
The flight from Frankfurt to Krabi has a 3 hour Transit at Bangkok Airport.
Do I have to get the pcr-test during Transit at Bangkok Airport or can I fly to Krabi?

    1. Dear Corny,

      Good day.
You need to stay 1 night in Bangkok to get the RT PCR and receive the result. After you have negative result, you can fly to Krabi. Other option, you can find an international flight that will arrive in Krabi without stop in Bangkok. Another option, you can enter Phuket and arrange a pre-paid travel to Krabi from Phuket airport.

      Thank you.

  22. Hi. Which docs I have to provide for Thailand Pass if I gonna to use Pattaya Sandbox Programm? Is this programm support all countries that not in “46 list”?
    Thank you.

  23. I’ve been trying to submit my COE, but there’s the section about uploading your “vaccine certification”. I thought it was my vaccine card (fully vaccinated since May), but every time I try to submit my documents, that section doesn’t go through and says I need to update a valid certification. Any ideas what that could mean?

    Thank you

  24. Hello. I would like go travel next week (2-6 of November). I am fully vaccinated and in list of 46 countries. What should I do if Thai pass will start work 1st of November only?

  25. I’m traveling from Greece on November 4th, landing in Thailand on November 5th by 3 pm, my question is: if I don’t get the Thai pass to my email by the time I travel, can I still travel with the paper documents and except it takes longer?

  26. Hi,

I’m arriving on the 30th through a COE.
I meet all the conditions for the no quarantine, does this mean i will be able to cut my quarantine short from Nov 1st or will i have to complete the full 7 days. Despite being double vaccinated and from a low risk country.

    Thnks

    1. Dear Mick,

      Good day.
Please check the weblink that was given to you by the embassy. You can download the updated COE.

      Thank you.

  27. Hello,

We are looking to travel from Sydney to Bangkok in December. We have two children aged 1 and 3. Do the children need to be vaccinated? And do they require a PCR test on arrival?

    Thank you!

    1. Dear Alex,

      Good day.
Yes, they can travel with you under the No Quarantine Program. They need to have COVID test before traveling and upon arrival. Since they are children, they will just have the saliva test instead of nasal swab.

  28. I arrive Suvarnabhumi 8. of December. Can I go to a SHA+ hotel in Cha-am and stay for one day, or must it be a AQ hotel (in Bangkok). I am fully vaccinated.

    1. Dear Tormod,

      Good day.
The requirement is that you need to stay 1 night in a hotel within 200 kms from Bangkok airport. Cha-Am is too far so you need to stay 1 night in Bangkok before you travel to Cha-Am.

  29. Dear Rex,
    I’m trying it again…
We are from one of the “low risk countries”, we will arrive in Phuket on 1.November. We have our COE.
Does it mean we have to undergo PCR test on day 6 and stay 7 nights at SHA+ hotel or we are allowed to follow new policy (can I cancel the PCR test day 6)?

    Thank you

    1. Dear Nikol,

      Good day.
Please check the link that was given to you by the Thai Embassy. You will see that your COE has been updated. There is a note or remarks stating you are Eligible for No Quarantine if you tested negative from COVID upon arrival. It means you can check out after 1 night and ask for refund. You can also ask for refund for the second test. Do not cancel anything now, you can do it in Phuket.

      Thank you.

  30. HELLO SIR
Just confused with this new Thai pass if it can take up to 7 days to get your Q.R. code how can you put in your hotel and get a PCR test if you are flying to bangkok say the 5th november you just wont be able to put in your details to receive the Q.R. code
    thanks stewart

    1. Dear Stewart,

      Good day.
This has been solved. You can still use the old system to get a COE and use it for the November 5th trip. Should you require any assistance for the COE or Thailand Pass application, please check this page: http://www.siam-legal.com/coe

      Thank you.

  31. Hi,

I am a Thai national trying to return to Thailand in mid November.

Can you confirm my process that I will have to undertake, as a non-vaccinated person that is flying in from Papua New Guinea transiting at Singapore.

    Regards.

    1. Dear Talla,

The passengers needs to apply for the Thailand Pass in order to travel to Thailand and quarantine for 10 days if unvaccinated. Should you require any assistance for the Thailand Pass application, please check this page: http://www.siam-legal.com/coe

      Thank you.

    2. Hi Talla,

Yes, Thai citizens also need to apply for Thailand Pass prior to traveling to their country.

      Thank you.

  32. Hi

Where will tourists be PCR testet when they arrive in
    Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok?
In the airport or at SHA hotels?

  33. To whom it may concern,

I have read that a fully vaccinated individual from a non low-risk country (The Philippines) must be quaranteed for a week in an approved hotel. Can you please tell me if this individual must stay in the room at all times?

    Looking forward to your reply

    Best regards, Jan Versteeg

    1. Dear Jan,

      Good day.
Fully vaccinated traveler from the Philippines can enter Thailand under the Sandbox program. He or she can choose Bangkok, Pattaya or even Phuket Sandbox. Yes, he or needs to book an SHA+ Hotel for at least 7 nights with freedom of movement within the city.

  34. Hello,
I am an Australian citizen, your information doesn’t seem to mention exception of children. One of my children traveling with me in December on family visit is only 10 years old, and therefore not eligible to be vaccinated. What is the requirement of entry for him traveling with me?

    1. Dear Garry,

      Good day.
For children below 12 years old, they can travel with fully vaccinated parent. They are eligible for the No Quarantine program same as the parents. He needs to have COVID test before traveling and another test upon arrival. They do not need to do nasal swab test, they can do saliva sample testing but still RT PCR test.

  35. Hi,
I have a 60 day tourist visa expires January 12 2022. My flight is from November 12 to February 9. I can get a 30 day extension.
Will the airline deny my entry because the visa date and flight date don’t match?

    1. Dear Mathew,

      Good day.
Since you have a valid visa, your return flight date will not be a problem. It should be alright. Just explain to them that you will extend inside Thailand if ever they ask you.
Should you require any assistance for the COE or Thailand Pass application, please check this page: http://www.siam-legal.com/coe

      Thank you.

  36. I’m us citizens, my departure November 7 so, do I have enough time for Thailand pass?also do I need to apply for Thailand visa?
    Staying only 27days.

    1. Dear Cris,

      Good day.
If you are now in the US, you can still apply for the COE now. If you are now in the UK< you need to wait and apply for Thailand Pass on November 1. Should you require any assistance for the COE or Thailand Pass application, please check this page: http://www.siam-legal.com/coe

      Thank you.

  37. Hey, I will arrive at the 1 November in Bangkok, I am from Germany and full vaccinated. I also booked a ASQ Hotel for the first night and booked a certified insurance which covers up Covid with 50.000. I applied for the COE, since the Thailand pass I not available right now. I did not book a separate PCR Test right now – should I book one? Can you please help me that I can make it to Bangkok at the 1st November – it is very difficult and I don’t know if I have done everything the right way.. I send the request for the COE at the weekend.. best wishes, Lara

  38. Can my girlfriend from the Philipinen book a flight after 1 Nov
Manila -Bangkok- Phuket using Bangkok as transfer Airport to Phuket.
Or does she has to use the Sandbox program and book a flight
    Manila-Singapore -Phuket?

    1. Dear Michael,

      Good day.
She has to fly Manila-Singapore-Phuket for the Phuket Sandbox or Manila-Bangkok for the Bangkok Sandbox. She can stay first in one hotel for 7 nights which she can go out of the room and explore the city or blue zones. She needs to stay in one Bangkok SHA Hotel for 7 nights if she chose Bangkok Sandbox.

      Thank you.

  39. DEar. I did not get any response yet from previous comment I posted. I want to travel to Chiang Mai. I am Emirati. I want to know if I need to stop 1 day for quarantine on 1 SHA+ hotel or can I directly booked a flight to Chiang Mai? Because the booking layover from BKK to CNX is 5 hours only. Where can I do the PCR test and quarantine?

    1. Dear Ahmad,

      Good day.
If your flight is Dubai/Abu Dhabi to Bangkok, you must stay in Bangkok for 1 night first and once you have the negative COVID test result you can travel to Chiang Mai. You will book Bangkok ASQ Hotel which includes the COVID test already.

      Thank you.

  40. Hi Rex,
I am double vaccinated and expect to get booster before my flight November 23. Should I book a ticket directly to Koh Samui, or do I need to spend the ASQ night in Bkk? Thanks

    1. Dear Alan,

The Bangkok Samui Sealed Flights are cancelled already and it will run only until October 31. The best thing to do now, arrive in Bangkok and quarantine for 1 night until you get the COVID test result. After that, the next day, you can fly to Samui. Make sure you fly to Samui only after you have the test result.

      Thank you.

  41. I have already booked the flight on 1 November. Would you please advise if I should apply COE or Thailand pass?

    Thanks,

    1. Dear Jami,

      Good day.
Please apply for COE now. You can still get it for your November 1 flight. Thailand Pass system is not ready yet.

      Thank you.

  42. Hello,
This is the 3rd time I am asking this question. Previous two time yesterday and day before I did not answer and post is not showing in the log below. My question I am plaining to go to Bangkok on November 12th on the way I stop over in INDIA for a week. Which category I am falling in ( Thailand Pass system or Bangkok sandbox) . I am an American citizen.

    1. Dear Ben,

      Good day.
We apologise for the delayed reply. You will fall under category for Sandbox Program. You can choose the Sandbox Program depending on the airport of arrival. Thailand Pass for the 3 categories: Quarantine Exemption, Sandbox Program and Quarantine Program. You will go for the Sandbox Program and choose Bangkok Sandbox.

      Thank you.

  43. Not sure if you can help.

Travelling on 23rd November from the UK, will apply for Thailand pass after the 1st November. Does my 3 year old need a PCR Test prior to departure as well as day 0 and day 6 on arrival?! Do we need to pre book day 0 test or is that done automatically at the Airport? Finally, does my 3 year old also need Thailand pass?

    1. Dear Kirsty,

      Good day.
If you are traveling from the UK, you will qualify for the Quarantine Exemption Program or No Quarantine Program. You and your child only need to have COVID test before departure and then another test upon arrival. You do not need a test on Day 6.

      Thank you.

  44. Hi!

I`ll try again. I`m planning to visit Thailand Desember (less than 30 days) as a tourist and have all paper needed.
But suddenly i was not shure when it comes to the requirements to apply for Thailand passport:

    – Passport
    – Vaccination Certificate
    – COVID-19 Health Insurance Certificate
    – Confirmed ASQ hotel booking or Confirmed SHA+ hotel booking
    – Copy of Thai Visa if required

My question is therefore: Do I have to apply for Thai visa first, before Thailand Passport?

    Sinserly

    Sven

    1. Dear Sven,

      Good day.
If you are staying less than 30 days, you do not need a visa. I believe you are Norwegian passport holder, you get 30 days visa exemption upon arrival. You only need to apply for the COE at least 7 days before travelling. Should you require any assistance for the Thailand Pass application, please check this page: http://www.siam-legal.com/coe

      Thank you.

  45. Hi, we were scheduled to leave from Slovakia to Thailand on November 11th, we already have visas (as well as vaccination, SHA, etc.) and last week we applied for the COE. However, it was declined yesterday due to the new rules and regulations concerning Thailand pass.

Will there will be enough time for us to apply and receive the Thailand pass in time, since the system for Thailand pass is not functioning yet?

    Thank you for your answer.

    1. Dear Adam,

      Good day.
Those who are travelling on November 8th onward, you can apply for the Thailand Pass on November 1. For those traveling on November 1 to 7, you can still apply for the COE right now.

      Thank you.

  46. Hello Rex,
we are a group of 3 Germans and will arrive on November 4th. At the moment we still have to fill in the coe, is this right? Is it possible to spend the 4 days in one sha+ hotel and another 3 days in another sha+ hotel. Could we with the new regulation from 01.11. cancel the sha+ hotels from the second night on, although this was specified when applying for the coe? Furthermore, German insurers do not limit their benefits, so that the treatment of COVID-19 is definitely covered, but the confirmation does not contain the sum of 100,000 USD but the confirmation confirmed that the costs are covered.
Do we have to book the additional PCR test on day 6 and pay even though we arrived after november 1st? if the thailand pass system goes online on November 1st, is it enough to register us on November 1st? We depart from Germany on november 3rd and depart on November 4th. in thailand.
What should we do now to do it right??

Thank you in advance for your efforts.
    Franziska

    1. Dear Franziska,

      Good day.
Yes, you can apply for the COE. Today there has been new COE format stating Quarantine Exemption. You can request for refunds later but I suggest not to cancel any reservation right now. The embassy requires that the amount of more than 50,000 USD and COVID 19 are expressly stated as well as the date of validity. You can apply for COE right now.

      Thank you.

  47. Dear Khun Rex

My boss is French but he has Thai Resident. Can he mix between 46 country? Can he travel around in 46 country in 21 days before visit Thailand?

    Please advise

    1. Dear Kanungnid,

      Good day.
It really depends on the country where he will apply for the Thailand Pass. For example, if he will fly from US to Thailand, the Thai Embassy in the US will require that he stay in USA for 21 days before coming to Thailand (if not US citizen) or if he will fly from UK to Thailand, the Thai Embassy in London is not very strict about this requirement.

      Thank you.

  48. Good day Rex,
I have booked my flight tickets on Nov 6 to Bangkok. I am Indian passport holder with permanent residence in Germany.
1- Is visa on arrival possible?
2- Should i register with CoE application or should i wait for the Thailand pass? Thailand pass website says that i should apply atleast 7days before travel.

    Thanks and regards,
    Revanth

    1. Dear Revanth,

      Good day.
Yes, Visa On Arrival is available. When you apply for the COE, you choose Visa Exemption.
Yes, you must apply for COE now because Thailand Pass is not ready yet. COE will be honored until November 7. Since you are flying on November 6th, you must apply for COE now.

      Thank you.

  49. Hello.
On one side you have the thai pass system, on the other side you have to arrange your visa if you want to stay beyond 30 days. Am I correct?
I will stay 60 days in Thailand. And I suppose if you do not arrange a visa, you are only allowed the regular Visa On Arrival. Am I right about this.
If I understand it well, the Thailand pass system and the visa arrangement to get a tourist visa are two different things?

As a Belgian citizen, it is not required to do a PCR test if you are fully vaccinated. I am not sure if this arrangement depends on the country destination. Is a PCR test prior of flying with destination Thailand required or not?

    Thanks for your answer.

  50. Hello,

Is it ok for us to fly to Phuket from Sweden with transit in BKK and enter Phuket Sandbox programme after November 1st?

    Best regards,
    Cecilia

    1. Dear Cecilia,

      Good day.
If you are fully vaccinated, you can travel under the Quarantine Exemption Program. You do not need to do Sandbox. Under the No Quarantine Program, if your flight lands in Bangkok, you must stay in Bangkok for 1 night under quarantine hotel or SHA+ hotel and do a COVID test before you can travel to other parts of Thailand. If your flight lands in Phuket, you do the same.

      Thank you.

  51. if BKK opens for sandbox programme, lets for indonesian people. they need a SHA booking in BKK for 7 days .
1- can you leave the hotel and look around in BKK
2- do you really need to stay 7 days or can you go back after 4 days?

    1. Dear John,

      Good day.
Yes, the travelers coming from Indonesia can qualify for the Sandbox program. You only need to stay in an SHA+ Hotel for at least 7 nights and you apply for the Thailand Pass together with a purchased COVID insurance. If you stay for 4 days only, you can do that but your need to book a flight out of Thailand within that time period.

      Thank you.

  52. Following-up from my previous comment dated 10/22 and responded to on 10/23, the Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm posted (10/22) on their Facebook page that “The COE system will no longer be used. Travelers are required to register under the Thailand Pass system at tp.consular.go.th. 7 days before departure. The Thailand Pass system will be open for registration from 1 November 2021 onwards.” – does this mean that if our arrival date is on 11/1, we would have to quarantine for 7 days?

    1. Dear Tanapat,

No. It means you need to change your flight to November 8 onward. If the Thailand Pass is launched this week, then you have a chance to get the Thailand Pass for your November 1 arrival. If you really want to travel on October 31, please apply for COE and book a quarantine room for 7 nights. You can ask for refund later.

      Thank you.

  53. Hi I’m traveling on the 1st of November. I upload my COE request 20 days ago and still no answer. What should I do? I already buy certified hotels, pcr, insuerence and flung tickets. I’m double vacc. I will be allow to travell?

    1. Dear Felipe,

      Good day.
I would recommend for you to call the Thai Embassy. Maybe they will not issue the COE because they are waiting for the Thailand Pass website. They can still issue the COE but I am not sure why the delay.

      Thank you.

  54. Good day Rex,

I arrive in Phuket on 7th November and have pre-approved COE. In order to get final approval for COE I need to pre-book the PCR tests. Problem thailandpsas.com is not allowing me to book a test as there is a message stating, “The booking started from 1st November 2021 is temporarily closed until the official entry process is announced.” Also, the hotel is SHA+ but they don’t provide PCR tests. So, how can I finalise approval for COE? Furthermore, if I wait for Thailand Pass from November 1st I probably won’t have approval in time.

Thanks in advance for your response.

    1. Dear Will,

      Good day.
Yes, it has been turned off today. I recommend for you to just apply for the Thailand Pass. I believe that it will be available soon. Since your flight is November 6th, I think you still have time to get the Thailand Pass. Please check the Thailand Pass portal on October 28th.

      Thank you.

  55. Hello, I’m a residence in the UK and holding a Philippine passport. I am fully vaccinated, can I travel in Thailand without quarantine?

    Thank you

    1. Hi Jay,

Yes if you have spent 21 consecutive days in the UK before traveling to Thailand.

      Thank you.

  56. It doesn’t seem possible to purchase international flights direct to Chiang Mai (from UK). If I fly to Bangkok and have an onward domestic flight to Chiang Mai, can I do my one-night in Chiang Mai or must it be in Bangkok (since I need to go through immigration there)?

    1. Hi Mark,

Unfortunately, most long-haul international flights only arrive in Bangkok and Phuket. For your case you would need to do Test&Go in Bangkok before you can travel to Chiang Mai.

      Thank you.

  57. Hi, I am not vaccinated, I am a parent of a Thai citizen, and I’m traveling to Thailand in November. I read above, that unvaccinated persons are allowed to enter Thailand. Is this true? I will get it if I have to, but I want to know for sure.
    Thanks.

    1. Hi Adam,

Unvaccinated travelers can still enter Thailand but must complete a 7-day quarantine as of 1 November 2021.

      Thank you.

  58. Hello I am Japanese passport holder flying to Phuket after November 1st.
First, Is it possible to trancefar at Bangkok to Phuket from Japan?
    Second, I already have
    ・Passport
    ・Vaccination Certificate
    ・COVID-19 Health Insurance Certificate
    ・Confirmed SHA+ hotel booking
But i don’t have Copy of Thai Visa .
    Do i still need it?

    1. Dear Mini,

      Good day.
If you are coming from a Visa Exemption country, you do not need copy of visa to apply for Thailand Pass.

      Thank you.

    1. Hi Sio,

If you are fully vaccinated for Covid-19 and is traveling from a country on the list of low-risk countries, you are exempted from quarantine but must stay in a AQ/SHA+ hotel for one night to wait for your RT-PCR results.

      Thank you.

    1. Hi Joana,

Yes that is okay but you will have to quarantine in Phuket first before you can travel to Bangkok.

      Thank you.

  59. I’m a US citizen working in Algeria, and as Algeria is not listed low risk country and I’m fully vaccinated from the sounds of what I reading I will still face a 7-day quarantine in Pattaya.

Also one other is the limit of insurance decreased now to 50K USD?

    Is this correct?

    1. Hi Ken,

Yes that is correct. The country you are traveling from determines your quarantine duration.

      Thank you.

  60. hello, my country is included in the list of low contagion countries. I did the double dose of the vaccine, do I have to do the COE to enter Thailand? and if he can explain to me what I have to do to come to Thailand. Thanks

    1. Hi Gianfranco.

Yes, as of 1 November 2021 all travelers coming to Thailand need to get a Thailand Pass to enter the country.

      Thank you.

    1. Dear Wilk,

      Good day.
You can still qualify for the Bangkok or Phuket Sandbox. You just need to stay for 7 nights in SHA+ Hotel and the COVID insurance.

      Thank you.

  61. Hello. on November 6th I will arrive in phuket with the Sandbox program, (my country is in the list of low risk countries) I have already got the COE,2pcr test booked, shaplus7 day, now from November 1st it will be replaced by the thailanpass, is my COE still valid? Or do I have to apply for thailanpass ?

    1. Dear Mauro,

      Good day.
We are still waiting for the announcement but I see reports stating that the old COEs can still be used. However, you have to speak to your hotel about the reduced number of nights’ stay at the hotel.

      Thank you.

  62. Hi, Under the Sandbox program from Nov 1 can I travel from flight to Bangkok and go to Pattaya by taxi to stay in SHA+ hotel for 7 days there in Pattaya.

    1. Dear Gaurav,

      Good day.
Yes, that is correct. Your SHA+ hotel in Pattaya must arrange your airport transfer.

      Thank you.

  63. Hello, my name is Ritchelle, coming from the Philippines, it says all countries are welcome through Phuket sandbox, I am fully vaccinated anyway, may i ask if do Philippine passport need to get a Thai tourist visa from the Thai embassy here in the Philippines? Or same as before will get it upon arrival? We did have our axa insurance and a booking from a sha+ plus hotel already! Thank you so much! Keep safe?

    1. Dear Ritchelle,

      Good day.
No, you do not need a visa. You can enter Thailand via Visa Exemption Rule which allows you stay for 30 days. Please note that you are not limited to Phuket Sandbox, there is Bangkok Sandbox, Pattaya Sandbox as long as you stay for 7 nights in an SHA+ Hotel.

      Thank you.

  64. Hi, I am a US citizen and flying as a vaccinated traveler from USA to Singapore. I will stay there for 10 days and fly to Bangkok.
    Would this be a problem?

    1. Dear Sam,

      Good day.
The issue here is that, your Thailand Pass has to be issued by Thai Embassy in Singapore since you are spending days in Singapore and not a transit for few hours. I hope that Thai Embassy in Singapore will not require for you to be in Singapore for 21 days before they issue the Thailand Pass. Based on the rules, as long as you are in these 46 countries for a total of 21 days ore more before coming to Thailand. But each embassy may have different interpretation.

      Thank you.

  65. Hi I am planning to come to Thailand January can I travel from the Uk and transit through a country eg France Netherlands to get to Thailand

  66. I want to travel from Singapore 22nd November. Can I go to Pattaya direct from Bangkok and book a hotel and test there?

    1. Hi Shahrul,

Yes that is possible but you will have to find an AQ or SHA+ hotel that provides transportation directly from the airport to Pattaya.

      Thank you.

  67. When will the Thailand Pass website be available? It is our understanding from talking with the hotel in Thailand that you the processing time for the Thailand Pass is 7 days and that the website will not be available until November 1st? Thanks.

    1. Hi Itsarachai,

No, Thai citizens do not need Covid-19 insurance to receive a Thailand Pass.

      Thank you.

  68. As it is not qurantine and we are only awaiting test results on first night.

Can we leave the hotel and continue to go to restaurants etc.. please confirm that.

    1. Dear Jason,

      Good day.
You are allowed to leave the room but you need to stay within the hotel only. I recommend for you to check with your hotel directly.

      Thank you.

  69. Hi , we are from the uk and are not going to Phuket until the 14 th December. So we will fill in the Thai pass but who will be paying for the pcr test at the airport. I have seen on your web page that it is in with the cost of the hotel but we have been told by our hotel that we have to book and pay for it .

    1. Dear Frode,

      Good day.
For this scenario, you can choose the Sandbox Program. It means both vaccinated parents and unvaccinated children can go to Phuket for 7 nights before they can travel to other parts of Thailand.

      Thank you.

Gruss.Michael.S.

    3. Dear Michael,

      Good day.
Yes, you can do both. You can do the COE now and Thailand Pass when it is launched.
If you COE approved, you can still use it.

      Thank you.

  70. Please advice how can I apply for Thailand pass as I have to travel on the 1 st of November to Phuket
    Thank you

    1. Dear Amit,

      Good day.
The Thailand Pass may be launched next week or on November 1. We just need to wait for a couple more days.

      Thank you.

  71. My wife is a Thailand National; I am a Canadian citizen. I have my ticket bought; I will be entering Thailand on November 3 2021. Will you assist me under your package 2 option please?
    Thanks
    Terrance Coles

    1. Dear Terrance,

      Good day.
If you are travelling and staying for less than 30 days, you can purchase our Package 2. The process for the Thailand Pass will start on October 28-31. We just need to wait for further updates and announcements.

      Thank you.

  72. Thank you for your detailed information.
I may wish to travel from the U.K. arrive December staying 3 months
I will have all the requirements as listed.
    Just have 2 questions please
Please explain what confirmed SHA+Hotel booking means.
Do I have to provide my accommodation rental agreement with hotel or if renting a condo privately from a friend
    Regards joe

    1. Dear Joe,

      Good day.
SHA+ Hotel is the type of hotel you need to stay for one night while you wait the result of your RT PCR test that is taken upon arrival. After that, you can stay in any hotel or accommodation of your choice.

      Thank you.

  73. What if I already have coe will I still be able use coe for December 2021
or will I now need to reapply for Thailand Pass

    1. Dear Mark,

      Good day.
Normally the COEs are not issued more than 31 days before the trip. I am not sure why you already have a COE for December. You need to get Thailand Pass if your trip is in December.

      Thank you.

  74. Hello ! Im flying with Thai Airways the 13th November from Stockholm to Phuket with a Direct flight. Im still waiting for my insurance papers so I havent applied for the COE. Im a Swedish citizen and I am fully vaccinated. Should I wait for the Thailand Pass to get going and skip applying for the COE completely? Is the COE not gonna be a valid paper anymore?

    1. Dear Emil,

      Good day.
I recommend for you to apply for the Thailand Pass after November 1. You do not need to apply for COE now. You only need to book for 1 night stay in SHA+ Hotel, take COVID test before traveling and upon arrival and ensure you have COVID 19 insurance. You can purchase it at http://www.siam-legal.com/axa-.insurance

      Thank you.

    1. Dear David,

      Good day.
If you are fully vaccinated, I assume your COE states you only need to stay for 7 nights in the ASQ or SHA+ Hotel. If you apply for Thailand Pass next week, this will be changed to 1 night stay in SHA+ or ASQ Hotel. I think that COEs will still be accepted and the Health Officer at the airport will amend the number of nights and COVID tests that you are required to have.

      Thank you.

    2. Wenn ich ein SHA+ Hotel in Pattaya habe darf ich dann mit den Öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln vom Airport nach Pattaya fahren oder gibt es einen extra Transport Service?

    3. Dear Michael,

      Good day.
You have to book the airport transfer with your hotel or they can arrange an SHA+ accredited airport transport provider.

      Thank you.

  75. sorry, but pass is starting 1.11. – my flight is going 6.11 – how does this work ?? I lost already some clients because nothing is yet prepared and also coe is not longer working….

    1. Dear Rolf,

      Good day.
It may be possible that it will be launched between October 28-31. However if the changes occur on October 1, travelers should also give some time before they travel. There is no race who reaches Thailand on November 1. It is also possible that old COEs with travel date on November 1 can use the same COE.

      Thank you.

  76. I would like a 60 days visa and stay in thailand 90 days i make än extensien after 60 days and like to leave beginning december or januari, how much will it cost, i already have covid insurance for 100.000 dollar
    Best regards pontus stocklassa

  77. One statement says fully vaccinated, from a listed country doesn’t have to quarantine. Yet, one of the requirements for obtaining a Thailand Pass states confirmation of ASQ or SHA+ bookings. Why the contradiction? What effect will this have on those of us who will be staying with family/friends?

    1. Dear Bill,

      Good day.
That refers to the one night they need to stay in ASQ or SHA+ Hotel while they wait for the result of the RT PCR test taken upon arrival.

      Thank you.

  78. Hi, I’m travelling on November 5th and I’m wondering if Thailand Pass will be available by then. Some reports are suggesting that it won’t be released until the 1st. Can I apply to COE with 1 day ASQ for my covid test instead? or would that not be an option?

    1. Dear Edward,

      Good day.
Yes, you can try that. Perhaps the Embassy will accept it and issued the COE to you. Then on November 1, you can still apply or sign up for Thailand Pass. You can have both COE and Thailand Pass.

      Thank you.

  79. Australia has less covid cases than the USA, BUT ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE SUPPOSED ” LESS RISK” countries
    Very odd

    1. Dear Bob,

      Good day.
The initial list was only 5 countries. As of today, October 21, there are 46 countries included. Please refer to the updated article.

      Thank you.

  80. As it was published on media that no quarantine is required for Chonburi. Do I need to book an ASQ or AQ when applying for COE? My flight is confirmed on 2Nov 2021 from Sg to BKK. Pls advice. Your help is very much appreciated. Thk u.

    1. Dear Quek,

      Good day.
You can book for 7 nights to get the Letter of Confirmation. Once you have the COE, you can check with the ASQ Hotel if you can change it to 1 night only and get a refund. If they don’t agree to it, then you need to wait until Thailand Pass and the new entry rules and requirements are made official.

      Thank you.

  81. I am interested in your service, but note your list does not include Australia ….. will this change from November 1 ?

    1. Dear Alex,

      Good day.
The Thailand Pass system will be launched hopefully next week or November 1 at the latest. You can apply as early as 30 days before the trip and at least 7 days before the trip.

      Thank you.

  82. Hi Iv already applied for the certificate of entry Which is waiting for approval I don’t fly till 25th November will I have to re apply for the Thailand pass,, thank you

    1. Dear Damian,

      Good day.
Yes, you can apply for the Thailand Pass since the Thailand Pass processing time is around 3 to 7 days only.

      Thank you.

    2. Hi!
What rules apply for infants? Can we enter under new rules if travelling with 1.5y old and does he also need to take the PCR tests?
      Thank you,
      Tina

    3. Dear Tina,

      Good day.
Unvaccinated children below 12 years old can enter Thailand together with parents. I believe the child can take COVID test using saliva sample instead of nasal swab.

      Thank you.

  83. I am a fully vaccinated American citizen who wants to travel to Bangkok and stay in the home of my daughter. Can I do this without quarantine after 11/1/2021?

    1. Dear Debbie,

      Good day.
If you are departing from USA to Thailand, yes, you only need to book an SHA+ Hotel for one night and after that you can transfer to your preferred accommodation. You still need to apply for the Thailand Pass and you need to have COVID Insurance. For the COVID 19 insurance, please visit: http://www.siam-legal.com/axa/-insurance

      Thank you.

    1. Hello I have confirmed step 1 of the coe since last friday, but after I can’t log in to upload everything for step 2.my fly its on 31.10.
What I can do? I try already to call the ambassy but no one answered

    2. Dear Rene,

      Good day.
Maybe the passport number or the reference ID are not correct. You can call the Thai Embassy or consulate to check what is the problem. Today there has been this type of problem but just make sure you have the correct reference ID.

      Thank you.
